Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
A special welcome to Britton, who started school in Room 1 last Thursday. Britton, we wish you many blessings as you enter our school community and follow in the footsteps of your beautiful whānau.
Where has the year gone? November - all ready.
November is a time when we also remember loved ones who have passed.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Last Friday, we celebrated World Teachers Day - at Sacred Heart Cathedral School, we are fortunate to have a dedicated teaching team who design learning experiences that are exciting and build on previous learning. Thank you Julius, Sue, Kate, John, Leanne, Sarah, Clare, Kerry, Hannah, Therese and Ann for everything that you do for the students and community at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
There is a lot happening so keep your eye on the school calendar.
Swimming is an incredible opportunity that is an integral part of our curriculum. The lessons received are very good quality plus the transport and logistics take a lot of organisation from our staff. It is expected that every child at our school attends their swimming lesson unless they are sick. Swimming lessons for the Seniors are on Mondays, Juniors on Tuesdays and Middles on Fridays. Special thanks for all your support around this.
As a staff, we want every one of our students to shine and give their best and do their best.
Thanking you for all the support you give our school.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Hosting International Students Attending St Mary's College
The host family needs to offer a warm comfortable room, lots of chat, and outings to showcase our beautiful city and surroundings, the beaches, rivers, hills and mountains, Te Papa, Wellington Museum, Zealandia etc, and of course our wonderful food options. The fee paid to families is $330 per week, Payment is made fortnightly.
We need short and long term options for hosting. Students stay for a year, a term or two, 6 weeks or 2 weeks. It can be a rewarding, educational and fun experience for all the family.
If you think your household would like to be a part of our school's international family, please get in touch with Philly Smyth, HomeStay Coordinator, and she will send out the Guide to Homestay booklet for you to see if your family and lifestyle would be a good fit for our international students.
