Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome to Mitchell who has joined our school community. Mitchell a very special welcome to you and your family, you will love being a part of this very special school community.
What an amazing term we have had (despite staff and learner sickness) the term has certainly exceeded my expectations.
I ngā rā o mua - "In the days of our old".
The film created by staff and students using stories gifted to us by Kura Ahurewa was a way for us to capture the mātauranga and share the stories in a way that would not only build knowledge but springboard further conversations. We know that place-based learning and localised stories will help us all in our understanding of the past of Aotearoa. Every indigenous culture brings its own story and beauty to the narrative of creation. The stories in our film were from the indigenous people whose ancestors were in Aotearoa more than 500 years ago.
The staff and students were all incredible in how they portrayed these stories. Thank you all for your support.

This is mental health awareness - please take care of yourselves. Please prioritise mental health not just this week but every week. It is so important.

Thank you for all your generosity over the past few weeks - we were able to give the Parish $195.50 in a donation towards the cost of the Cathedral.
Have a well-earned break over the holidays. Thank you for all your contributions throughout the term that makes our school a pretty special place to learn and work in.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

St Mary's College Netball Courts
St Mary's College has asked our school community not to park at their school or on their netball courts.
Last Day of Term 3 - Sausage Sizzle
We will have a sausage sizzle on the last day of term (Friday) - 22nd September. The cost is $2.00 for a sausage or $2.50 for a deluxe sausage with onion/mustard/tomato sauce. Please write your child's name, room number and number of sausages ordered on an envelope, enclose the correct change and the student council will collect the orders from each room. We will also be selling lollies for $1.00 (these are what we had left over from the movie night). All proceeds will go towards the Year 8 yearbook. Thank you.
Thank you to the parents who accompanied Mr Solia and the road patrollers on the march last Friday.

Thank you so much for supporting our Rugby World Cup fundraiser. To date, we have raised $2,074.00 that will go towards our external environment. You are such a kind, generous community and thank you for getting behind this and seeking sponsors from outside our school community. We are super grateful to you all.
We're excited to invite all our wonderful grandparents to our upcoming Grandparents' Liturgy. This will be held on Monday the 16th of October at 1.20pm at St Mary's hall. Please see the attached notice for more details.
