Sports News

BASKETBALL:

Sacred Heart Tangaroa (Year 5/6 Div 5) vs Scots Hammers won 24-10.

Sacred Heart Ruamoko (Year 5/6 Div 1) vs MNS Thunder lost 29-35.

Sacred HeartTawhirimatea (Girls League) lost 36-23 to Strathmore Ballers. Hard game for Tawhirimatea Monday night, big ups to the girls for trying their best!  Player of the day was Jiezl (Room 7) for her great attack and defence. Special mention to Kundiso (Room 7) for her solid defence.

Sacred Heart Dunkin Donuts (Year 7/8 Div 4) played an amazing game this last week with great team work. It’s great to have a few new players on the team this term. They won 16-12 against Scots 5. Charles (Room 8) was player of the day.

Sacred Heart Krispy Kreme (Year 7/8 Div 1) vs Seatoun Bulls lost 17-35.

NETBALL:

Sacred Heart Angels (Year 5/6 C) lost 5 – 16 to Holy Cross Lightning. Tough game for the Angels last Saturday, it just wasn’t our day. Angels had previously lost to Holy Cross at the beginning of the season. We have improved and come a long way since then! Player of the day was Cristelle (Room 7) for great intercepting.  Special mention to Lyla (Room 6) for her defence and rebounds.

Sacred Heart Ferns (Year 5/6 E) won 8-2 against Island Bay. Player of the day was Frankie (Room 5) for her work in attack and awesome goals.

Sacred Heart Ace (Year 7/8 B) - Hard luck Team Ace a loss to Seatoun School 18-9. It was one of those day’s where things just didn’t go our way with injuries and sickness. Congratulations to our player of the day Malchus (Room 8) for his amazing intercepts, taking on board feedback and displaying our team values of never giving up, having a positive attitude and being a team player.

Sacred Heart Shooting Stars (Year 7/8 C) played Hataitai Kakariki and won 17-8! Such a great game to watch, with the team working well together to drive the ball down court into the goal! Congrats to Jorindi (Room 9) for player of the day. She’s been working hard on her positioning and footwork. Plus a couple of special mentions this week, Amelia (Room 10) for scooping up some great intercepts mid-court and Luna (Room 8) for not hesitating to help the other team out when they went down to 6 players due to injury.

Kelly Sports Summer Soccer

Welcome to another season of Friday summer soccer! At Sacred Heart Cathedral School we usually enter 3 teams (across the juniors, middles and seniors).  It's great fun to play with school friends on a Friday after school. If your child is interested please email suzanneadair@hotmail.com with your child's name, year group and parent's name and whether you are able to manage the team (very easy, just making sure the team knows what time the game is each week and managing substitutions). We'll put teams together in early September. Details as follows:

  • 5-a-side Football (ideally 7 per team, no more than 8).
  • The season starts in October and finishes in March, with a break over the Christmas holidays.

Capital BMX Club - HAVE A GO - SEASON OPENER
With the support of the Wellington City Council, Capital BMX Club is trying to get more kids riding BMX. Central Wellington doesn’t have many safe spaces for riding. Capital BMX Club’s facilities at Ian Galloway Park (situated between Karori and Northland), offer the perfect environment for kids with a love for biking to develop their riding skills further.
