Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you very much for all your patience with the Council and what has been happening down on Hill Street. The outcome of the humps is certainly going to slow traffic going down Hill Street. Please be aware that I have been in regular contact with the Council about the timing and duration of this project. It was also unfortunate that the Archdiocese also communicated with us all about not parking down at the Archdiocese. If you were confident just dropping your child and letting them walk up into school, you could go up the side by the Archdiocese carpark building head through a second carpark and to the left is the bottom school gate. Your child could get out of the car, open the gate and walk straight onto the bottom playground. Then you could loop down Eccleston Hill beside the Anglican Cathedral and end up on Hill Street. This is a drop-off-only option and would mean you don't get out of your car at all.
What an amazing time we had on Friday with the Dance performance. Mark, our dance tutor embraced the Sacred Heart Cathedral Way "Light the Spark". The students were all simply incredible, with concentration at the forefront, body movements in sync, and a positive attitude all thrown together to create an incredible performance. Thank you to all whanau who took time out of their busy day to support and encourage our students.
I have been in classrooms throughout the past couple of weeks working with teachers as part of meeting standards and our professional growth cycle. As I reflect what I have observed are " Mana enhancing relationships". Examples include scaffolding students to be considerate or just little whispers saying maybe you could use kinder words. I am very grateful for the fabulous team we have here at school who all work together for the good of our community.
It was so good to see so many whānau coming in for goal setting. It is so appreciated as successful learning is determined by the relationship we have between home and school.
A very special welcome to Lingchu, our Mandarin Language Assistant who will be with us for 2024. Lingchu will be working in all of our classes.
Cathy is now on her long service leave and we will see her at the start of June. A very special welcome to Adele who will cover Frances in the morning while Frances runs our school office.
Prayer:
E te Ariki, Lord, today we listen to the story of the Samaritan woman at the well.
Help us to seek a personal encounter with you so that we can receive your life-giving water.
Help us to reach our and share the good news with other so that they too can come to the water and experience everlasting life.
Help us to show mercy and love to our brotherd and sisters especially those who are different from us.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amene.
Have a blessed week.
