Terrific Tuesday with Central Zone Speech Competition, Climate Change at Parliament and Central Zone Swimming Sports

What a day yesterday was - and all on the Feast of the Assumption. It was a very  busy day!

Visit to Parliament:

Rooms 3 and 6 went over to Parliament to speak with MPs about doing more for our beautiful planet.

Central Zone Speech Competion Results:

Last night, we joined Thorndon, Mt Cook, Clyde Quay and St Mark’s Schools to share and celebrate the excellent speeches the tamariki have been working on. There were a range of meaningful and lighthearted topics that gave us lots to think about.
It was a very successful night for Sacred Heart with the following results:
1st Place in Year 5: Jiezl (Room 6) - A Safer, Kinder Aotearoa
1st Place in Year 6: Hazel (Room 6) - The Problem With Social Medial
2nd Place in Year 7: Paige (Room 9) - Our Nurses Deserve Better
1st Place in Year 8: Veronica (Room 8) - Barbie Is A Good Role Model
Unfortunately Alex, our Year 7 (Room 9) winner, could not compete last night. Paige as our runner up, eagerly took up the challenge to deliver her speech with one day’s notice! She was excellent. Ka mau te wehi, e Paige.
Thank you to whānau who support the children to challenge themselves and give speeches their very best shot. All the middles and seniors should be proud of what they have achieved.

Central Zone Swimming Competition:

Our swimmers did the school very proud. Everyone was organised and on time for their races. They showed great teamwork and were supportive of swimmers from other schools as well. Ka pai, Sacred Heart! Thanks Anaiah, Sophia, Archie (Room 5), Jiezl, Hazel, Isabella, Amelia, Uriah (Room 6), Xavier, Andre, Asu (Room 7), Joshua, Sophie, MacKenzie, Carles (Room 8), Paige, Vanessa, Emily A (Room 9), Lothar and Alyssa (Room 10).
Sacred Heart is in charge of organising the Central Zone Swimming Competition -  thank you to John, Therese and Ann. Thank you also to the many parents who gave up their time to ensure the event ran smoothly - Fiona, Glenis, Anj, Adele, Nicola, Kristina, Gary and Sefo. We couldn’t have done it without you.
The results for swimming are still being finalised.
