Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt

Bernadette photo.JPGKia ora koutou e te whānau,

Can you believe it - last week of term 2 for 2023? Where has the year gone?

Please note the term finishes tomorrow Thursday 29 June.

There will be no school on Friday 30 June as all 13 Catholic Schools will be learning together at our annual Mid Winter hui.

It was wonderful to see so many whānau come to school over the past two days for mid-year reporting.  It is so important that we all employ the team approach as we navigate a learning plan for your child that builds achievement across all curriculum levels and helps develop all those important social skills. Thank you for your time and special thanks to our teaching team for all the thought and effort they have put into their reports for your child.

Today we are at Pipitea Marae. What a magnificent experience for us all. What was a super proud moment for me was all of our staff and students introduced themselves through mihi.

He huarahi mana hāpai te Ngakau Māhaki

The pathway to raised prestige is also the pathway to the humble heart.

As Matariki rises in the morning sky during Winter it calls us all to cluster together to celebrate our world, our people, and our home by remembering our loved ones, celebrating who we are, and embracing our hopes for the future. The period of Matariki is all about us all - the people of Aotearoa. We will have a special liturgy on the first day of term 3 at 1 pm you are most welcome to join us.

Wishing you all a wonderful break as you spend time with your whānau and friends.

Looking forward to seeing all children at the start of term 3 on Monday 17 July.

Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
