Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
A warm welcome to Ella, Room 10 who re-joined our school yesterday and to Katalina who started in Room 1 today. Our school is a very special place and you will make lifelong friends.
We have had all seasons this week. Please ensure your child is in correct Winter Uniform. We have an enormous variety of items for you to help yourself to. It is down by Room 1 fill a bag and save yourself a little bit of money.
Many of our students have the middle name, Joseph. On Monday, it was the feast of Saint Joseph and also known as the Patron Saint of Workers.
Senior Syndicate Mass In Connolly Hall:
Our Senior Syndicate participated in a beautiful Mass led by Father Joy.

Right On Our Doorstep:
This statue of Kupe, on the Wellington waterfront, shows the legendary explorer with his wife, Hine Te Apārangi, and his tohunga (priest), Pekahourangi. The country’s Māori name, Aotearoa, came when his wife saw a long white cloud and realised that land was nearby.
Being at school everyday (unless your child is sick) is going to have a really positive impact on learning. The Ministry of Education has given all schools new attendance measures.
The new measures will record:
- Absences remaining unexplained at the end of each week - so please communicate with the office as to why your child isn't at school.
- Learners with 5 or more days unjustified absence in a term. We will be contacting you.
- If action has been taken for learners unjustifiably absent for 5 or more days.
So please, please communicate with the school as to why your child is absent.
Thank You:
To our wonderful parents who are coaching, managing, and supporting sports teams, you are so amazing that you are giving up your precious time for us. To families who have donated items for our silent auction - thank you! To our school community who are accompanying us on experiences outside the classroom, thank you! We are so grateful for you taking time out of your busy day.
We have had a lovely calm start to the term. It would be safe to say that all staff and students are really enjoying being back at school.
Have a great week. Please remember if you have any concerns regarding the progress, achievement or behaviour of your child please reach out to their teacher.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
