Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt

Bernadette photo.JPG

Kia ora koutou e te whānau,

Since our last newsletter, we have had all 4 seasons in a week. Crazy, crazy weather. I am in absolute awe of the scenes that I have seen involving volunteers, emergency services and infrastructure services. True heroes in action. I will continue to keep in close communication with you all should anything change for us here at school. Please just let common sense prevail. If it is not safe for your child to journey into school then please stay at home. Please keep in your prayers those families who have lost someone during this very devastating time.

A very special welcome to our new students. You will love being part of the Sacred Heart Cathedral School Community.
The weather has certainly challenged us all this week but in typical Sacred Heart Cathedral School style, our staff and students showed how agile, responsive and resilient they are. If you need a black jacket I have several down in our second-hand uniform area to give away.
Ash Wednesday is next Wednesday, 22nd February and marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It is the first of the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter. The 40 days refer to the time Jesus spent in the desert after being baptised in the Jordan by John and before beginning his public ministry. The ashes used in the liturgy on Ash Wednesday are traditionally made from the palms used on Palm Sunday the previous year.

Take care and keep well. Have a fantastic week.
