Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Happy New Year to you all.
Welcome back to 2023! I hope you have all had a wonderful Summer break with whānau and friends.
The start of a new year often marks new beginnings and that’s particularly so in 2023. Uncertainty in the external environment will likely continue to define our outlook further however we know the importance of being bold and courageous in identifying long-term and mission-aligned opportunities for our staff, students and community.
A very special welcome to all of our new students and their families. You will love your time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. It really is a very special place.
Welcome Lila Rose, Quinn, Sienna, Jack, Anna, Maria, Lothar, Tiarnan, Sophia, Jumana, George, Annibelle, Tristan, Eliza, Noah, Sienna, Harper, Nova-lee, Paige, Angelina, Jonier, Dana, Dylan, Sophia, Israel, and Olivia.
During the holiday break, the school was recladded and new windows were also put in. We are very grateful to the Archdiocese of Wellington who funded this project (income for the Archdiocese of Wellington is from Attendance dues).
Our staff are very refreshed as well. We are very fortunate to have such a dynamic and innovative team. We have planned many exciting learning experiences for our tamariki in 2023. If you have any worries or concerns about your child's learning, please reach out to their teacher.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Hannah Purser (teacher room 10) whose Grandmother passed away on Sunday. Hannah and her family have managed to spend quality time throughout summer supporting each other. RIP. Thanks to Kerry and Leanne who stepped into Room 10 to begin the school year. Mrs Grevatt (teacher room 9) is also on leave as she cares for her son who is unwell. Thanks to Mrs Geraghty who has supported Room 9 as they start a new school year.
Have a wonderful week and I am certainly enjoying seeing you all again.
