Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome back to the last term of 2024. I hope you have had a restful break with whānau. We have had a great start to the term and in true Sacred Heart Cathedral fashion we have many exciting learning experiences planned.
Thank you for the generous way you support our school. As Principal, I am so lucky to be in such a vibrant work and learning environment.
Special welcome to Hanz, Jack and Niko who have all started in Room 1. You are going to have a wonderful time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School and will make lifelong friends.
Faahi Tapu he Vagahau Niue – Niue Language Week
The 2024 theme for Niue Language Week is 'Leveki mo e Feaki e Vagahau Niue ma Anoiha - Protect and Nurture Vagahau Niue for the Future'. This theme comes from the overarching Language Week Series theme for 2024, 'Sustainability'.

All of our students are swimming this term. As a nation, we have outrageous drowning statistics. It is so important that your child is confident in water and learns to swim. Our staff spend a lot of time organising swimming and ensuring appropriate logistics are adhered to. Please ensure your child has their togs on the appropriate day.
Monday - Middles Swimming

Are you after a career change?
As you know, we have a shortage of teachers across our country. If you hold a tertiary degree and are interested in on-the-job training, please reach out and I can help you with the application process. On-the-job training is a new government initiative. Teaching is such a rewarding job and if you can work in a school like Sacred Heart Cathedral School - job satisfaction is very high.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for al the support you give our staff.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Tumuaki
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Throughout the year, our staff has been supporting our tamariki with ways they can support themselves when things get tricky. Regulation is something that everyone continually works on. Recognising what zone we are in can help us return to a healthy state of mind.
Ideas to flip the mood at home:
- listen to music
- spend time in silence
- have a bubble bath
- take a nap
- play with my pet
- sit outside
- walk barefoot on grass
- breath deeply
School Summer Bucket Hat (Wide Brim)
Sunhats are a requirement in Term 4. These can be purchased from the school office for $15.00.
