Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

We are currently making up our class lists for 2025. If your child will not be at Sacred Heart Cathedral School in 2025, we would appreiate if you would let us know by emailing the office - office@sacred-heart.school.nz. Thank you.
Tomorrow, the students will be involved with "I Am Hope" by Mike King Foundation - Little People, Big Feelings.
This programme is designed to empower children by exploring many emotions beyond just happiness, highlighting the importance of expressing the full spectrum of feelings. Through captivating storytelling sessions led by ambassadors, issues like bullying, self-doubt, and emotional distress are addressed, emphasising that experiencing a variety of emotions is both normal and healthy.
On Monday, 19th August, our Year 5 & 6 students participated in Mathswell Competition 2024. Huge thank you to our amazing parents for enabling the students to participate that day.
Central Zone Speech Competition
Congratulations to the following students who represented Sacred Heart Cathedral School at the Central Zone Speech Competition, last night at Mt Cook School.
Year 5: Sophia D (Room 6) - "Why Family Time Is Important?"
Year 6: Jiezl (Room 7) - "Secret to Success - Chores!"
Year 7: Janiva (Room 10) - "Why AI Is Good For You?"
Year 8: JC (Room 8) - "Sleep"
Sophia was placed 1st, Jiezl was placed 2nd and Janiva and JC both presented their speeches beautifully and engaged with their audience in a very skillful way. What impressed the staff with the " fab 4" was the quality of the content and the evidence of research.
Ka Pai. We were so proud of you all!

St Mary's Old Girls' Association Lunch
We are looking forward to Sarah Parkinson, the new principal at St Mary's College, addressing us at our next event on Saturday, 7th September at Bay Plaza Hotel where we will have a two-course buffet lunch. We will gather at 11.30am when we can buy a drink from the bar and have a chance to catch up with everyone. Lunch will be served at 12pm. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options available: vegetarians will be served a veggie lasagne. Vegans will be served a vegan lasagne and a vegan dessert. Please let me know if you would like either of these. The chef has advised that most of the dishes are gluten free.
We will have a quick AGM between mains and dessert. Sarah will then speak to us which I am sure will be very interesting. We have hired the room till 2.30pm, so hopefully that will give everyone a chance to talk. If you would like to attend, please email Judy at smogwell@gmail.com for more details.
