Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Since our last newsletter, we have had all 4 seasons in a week. Crazy, crazy weather. I am in absolute awe of the scenes that I have seen involving volunteers, emergency services and infrastructure services. True heroes in action. I will continue to keep in close communication with you all should anything change for us here at school. Please just let common sense prevail. If it is not safe for your child to journey into school then please stay at home. Please keep in your prayers those families who have lost someone during this very devastating time.
Take care and keep well. Have a fantastic week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Paid Union Meeting - 28th February (Tuesday) and 1st March (Wednesday)
Paid Union Meeting – 28 February/1 March 2023
We have been advised that there will be a Paid Union Meeting for primary teachers to attend on either 28th February (Tuesday) or 1st March (Wednesday). Teachers are calling for more staffing for primary schools so they can better support all students. Please see the attached flyer. Our teachers will be attending a meeting on one of the above dates in the afternoon to consider an offer from the Government. This Paid Union Meeting is not strike action and the law allows for two Paid Union Meetings each year.
School will remain open on both 28th February and 1st March, as some of our teachers will attend the meeting on one day with others attending on the next day. In this way our school is able to remain open with extra support staff in attendance for supervision if needed. After School Care will operate as normal from 2.40pm.

What an amazing day we had - another stunning Wellington Day.
The sea was so warm and the students all had an absolute ball at the beach. Thank you again to all of our families who supported us down at Freyberg Beach.
It is a team effort and our staff really appreciates the way families help us out at Beach Day.
