Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Can you believe it - last week of term 2 for 2023? Where has the year gone?
Please note the term finishes tomorrow Thursday 29 June.
There will be no school on Friday 30 June as all 13 Catholic Schools will be learning together at our annual Mid Winter hui.
It was wonderful to see so many whānau come to school over the past two days for mid-year reporting. It is so important that we all employ the team approach as we navigate a learning plan for your child that builds achievement across all curriculum levels and helps develop all those important social skills. Thank you for your time and special thanks to our teaching team for all the thought and effort they have put into their reports for your child.
Today we are at Pipitea Marae. What a magnificent experience for us all. What was a super proud moment for me was all of our staff and students introduced themselves through mihi.

He huarahi mana hāpai te Ngakau Māhaki
The pathway to raised prestige is also the pathway to the humble heart.
As Matariki rises in the morning sky during Winter it calls us all to cluster together to celebrate our world, our people, and our home by remembering our loved ones, celebrating who we are, and embracing our hopes for the future. The period of Matariki is all about us all - the people of Aotearoa. We will have a special liturgy on the first day of term 3 at 1 pm you are most welcome to join us.
Wishing you all a wonderful break as you spend time with your whānau and friends.
Looking forward to seeing all children at the start of term 3 on Monday 17 July.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Archbishop Emeritus of Wellington John A Cardinal Dew
Attached below is a letter from Cardinal John Dew thanking the school and community for the kind messages and cards he received before his recent surgery. It was very much appreciated by him.
Junior Visit Akau Tangi This Thursday
The Junior Syndicate have their last visit to Akau Tangi (ASB) this Thursday. The students must wear sports clothes and bring a jacket and a water bottle. If you join us on the bus, we will leave school at 11.55 am. If not, we will see you at Akau Tangi at 12.30 pm.
Non-uniform Day on Thursday (29th June) Gold coin for Caritas
On Thursday, 29th June, we are having a non-uniform day for our students. They can come to school dressed in their own choice of clothing. We are asking that the children bring a gold coin for Caritas.
NETBALL:
Sacred Heart Saints vs EBIS and won 7 to 6. Alyssa was the player of the day.
Special mention to the parents and grandparents for all the support and getting the kids to the games each week. Also to some of the Seniors who gave up their lunchtimes to help the kids with some skills, it was greatly appreciated by them. Thanks Jonfred, Taitum, Marcus, Joshua and Cayden.
Last Friday, we welcomed the French Ambassador Laurence Beau to our school as part of the build-up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
As a school because of our unique location, we get some wonderful opportunities.
Afio mai to Olympic Ambassador Sarah Cowley Ross, who spoke to our students in such an inspiring way.
A Pasifika role model in action for our students. Talented, intelligent, and gifted.

Minor Health Conditions Service
Participating community pharmacies will provide a FREE Minor Health Conditions Service until Saturday 30 September for eligible people.
Minor health conditions (listed in the attached flyer) are those that can be managed with advice, self-care and in some cases, medicines provided by a pharmacist. Proper management of minor health conditions can prevent more serious conditions from developing or prevent further costly treatment.
The Minor Health Conditions Service is for:
• Maori and Pacific people
• Children under 14 years of age, or whanau members of a child with similar symptoms*
• Community Service Card (CSC) holders
*For example, if the pharmacist gives your tamariki medicine for scabies and you, or brothers or sisters also have symptoms, they may give advice and medicine to all of you.
You can read more about the service including frequently asked questions at www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/go-well
The new www.immunise.health.nz website is also great to promote as a source of information on keeping tamariki safe through vaccination.
For people who don’t meet the eligibility criteria, a pharmacist at your local community pharmacy will still be able to provide advice about a health condition, appropriate treatment options and let you know whether you should also see your doctor or another healthcare provider.
