Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Congratulations to Katie Rm 9, who is the recipient of the St Catherine's College academic scholarship. Well done Katie! We are super proud of you.
Thank you to all our families who supported our Christmas hamper fundraiser. We raised $1,272.00. What a fantastic effort!
Special thanks to Mrs Geraghty and the Student Council for organising Mad Monday we all entered into the spirit of dressing up.
The end of the year is coming to an end. The weather has certainly been misbehaving a little. However it is forecasted that we will have a warm summer. We all just need to keep being positive and be kind to each other.
I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday evening at our End of Year Mass, which will be held at Queen Margaret College Hall.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal, Sacred Heart Cathedral School
End of Year Mass on Tuesday (15 December) at Queen Margaret College Hall
5.30pm - The Junior School will sing carols for us followed by
5.45pm - Kapa Hapa Performance Group.
6pm - Welcome and End of Year Mass
There is limited parking onsite at Queen Margaret College. There is also some parking outside the school on Hobson Street and on Fitzherbert Ave opposite Katherine Mansfield Park.
All children are expected to attend and are to be in correct summer uniform.
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Last Thursday the Middle Syndicate had a trip to a place called Manawa Karioi. We went on a bus and there we met someone named Chris Livesey.
We learned about a person named Bruce Stewart and how he had built a community Marae around 40 years ago.
Bruce Stewart wanted the land to look like it did before the early settlers came.
Chris also told us three things they had to do to restore the land to its original condition: pest control, weed control and tree planting. While we were there, we gave Chris a $100 donation from the bake sale team.
Before we made our way to Wakefield Park for lunch, we went up 253 stairs to see a glorious view of Wellington. To get to the park we walked through the Berhampore Golf course. While we were at Wakefield Park, the whole syndicate had ice-blocks which were kindly donated. Then later, we left to go on the bus back to school.

Kapa Haka Performance Group WOW at Thorndon School
We had a stunning afternoon over at Thorndon School sharing culture. Staff and students were so proud of our Performance Kapa Haka group. Our Performance students have all worked so hard this year and have really taken themselves to a new level in 2020.
