Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
All Saints Day and All Souls Day is a reminder for us all to remember those who have passed away. In the weekend, I went to a beautiful Remembrance Liturgy at the Home of Compassion to remember those who had passed away recently and were patients at Mary Potter Hospice.
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. God grant to me the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
The Cathedral Connection (1st November 2020)
Looking at the Gospel for this Sunday, it is a very well known and often recited piece of scripture known as "The Beatitudes". It is a very beautiful and encouraging piece, however we might have the tendency to "tune out" when we here these familiar words. "How many times have I heard that", we might say. Still, in a year when we have had to review how we do so many things and start afresh, I was thinking, we could take this opportunity to listen to these words as if for the first time. Sit with them. Let them resonate within us and allow our Loving God to minister to us with His love that is new every morning, thus equipping us to be His missionaries in whatever way He calls us.

Robyn and the supervisors have been busy supporting students at After School Care with home learning. Last week they made a little discovery.
Students are to bring their school hat to school. If your child does not have a school hat, you can purchase one at school for $15.00 each or at NZ Uniforms - https://www.nzuniforms.com. A child who is not wearing a school hat will have to sit in the shade.
It is important that we are all sun smart. By wearing a school sunhat we are reducing exposure to UV radiation and the risk of skin cancer.

STARRING GAVIN RUTHERFORD as Dame Rosie Bubble
A new pair of shoes really can change your life!
From the writers of last year’s acclaimed Pantomime, Alice in Wonderland, comes their brand new
look at the much loved, magical fairy tale of Cinderella. Simon Leary and Gavin Rutherford
have collaborated to bring you yet another fabulous family show. It’s jammed packed with singing,
dancing, up-to-the minute jokes for the adults, and a sizeable dose of magic and slapstick for the kids.
Cinderella lives on Mt Victoria and nearby are her rich, evil and unkind step siblings. Things are
rough - but with Cinderella's can-do attitude, an encounter with someone who may turn out to
be a Prince, and a fairy godmother with magical powers, could things possibly end happily?
