Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori is Monday, 14th September to Sunday, 20th September.
This year’s theme is "Kia Kaha te Reo Māori" meaning "Let’s make the Māori language strong."
Our children have been participating in a wide range of activities. See our Monday assembly that has really set the scene for the week. Special thanks to our Whanau who have supported staff with authentic activities.
Netball News: Congratulations to our our brilliant Ferns team... you have made the Netaball inter-satellite competition which will run on 26th September. We are so proud of you this is an incredible achievement and is a credit to your fitness level, ball skills and determination. Well done and keep working together as a team and supporting each other on and off the court.
Please remember to return raffle tickets to school by this Friday - so you can be in to win a Chromebook, cricket bat or beauty voucher.
"Loving God, you help us see beyond what we need to what is good for all people. May we work towards a world where everyone has their fair share."
INOI MŌ MUA I TE MAHI.
E inoi ana matou in roto I te ingoa o te Matua, me te Tamaiti me te Wairua Tapu.
E te Ariki, e te Atua.
Wkakamāramatia, arahina mātou
Kia tīmata ai ā mātou mahi katoa
Kia a koe.
Ā, kia tutuki, i te ngākau hari
Ma to mātou Ariki ma Hehu Karaiti. Āmene
Ki te ingoa o te Matua, me te Tamaiti me te Wairua Tapu
Let us pray. (Prayer before work)
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Lord God may every thing we do begin with your inspiration
And continue with your help
So that all our prayers and works
May begin with you
And by you be happily ended
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
School photos can be ordered online. The unique shootkey codes were sent home with your children this afternoon. Students who were absent on the day the school photos were taken can order a class photo using the shootkey LTSHCSR99-999.
Students in Action during Maori Language Week
See our students in action.

Odette is teaching Karakia in Room 1 and 2.
Once a week the Senior Syndicate travels up to Karori West School for technology sessions where they learn skills in cooking, sewing, woodwork, electronics, and mosaics.
We had Michael from Caritas who visited our school on Wednesday, 9th September - sharing information about our world being a more equitable place for everyone.
Children’s Sacramental Programme 2020/21
Registration is now open for the 2020/21 programme which begins with Confirmation this coming Term 4 followed by First Reconciliation in Term 1 and Holy Communion in Term 2 of 2021. For your child to be eligible, he/she must already be baptised and be at least 8 years old. The first parent’s session is at 7.00pm on 15 October 2020 at St Thomas More Church in Wilton. For registration and/or further enquiries, please contact Angela at angela.nzet@outlook.com or the parish office at cathedral.parish@wn.catholic.org.nz.
Pyjama Day Tomorrow (17th September)
Tomorrow (17th September) is "Pyjama Day." We would appreciate it if each child could bring a 'can, pasta or rice' so we can make a donation to the Home of Compassion Soup kitchen. The student council will organise a fun morning for each syndicate.
School Market Day on Wednesday (23rd September) - A Fundraiser for the Parish
We will be having a market day on 23rd September (Wednesday) with all proceeds going to the Parish for the Cathedral Building project.
It will be a slightly different fair from previous years as we are planning it under Alert Level 2. Our senior students will be running outside games and inside activities for a gold coin donation which will go straight to the Parish. Your child will recieve an ice block and will participate in games.
We are looking forward to giving Father David a donation towards the Cathedral project. The children can wear mufti.
