Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
The term is flying and the weather has certainly made life easy for us all.
A few tweaks to our school calendar.
DISCO
Although we have booked the disco for the 10th September, we may need to reschedule this date depending on what alert level we are in. The Prime Minister is due to update us again on 6th September.
FATHER'S DAY LITURGY at 9am on 10th September
This year, we will have our Father's Day Liturgy via Zoom. Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85426168385?pwd=VEFtMWJXZWxwNm12emk5TmZmb2E0UT09

I hope you are all managing to take good care of yourselves and your families. Fundamental to well-being for us all is being able to feel grateful and focus on what is right and best. Our staff employ a strengths based focus to all that we do at school which in itself brings positive energy.
A beautiful Prayer I recently came across.
"I am just so grateful for all of your blessings in my life, Lord. I pray that you remind me of just how lucky I am, and that you never allow me to forget to show my gratitude in prayer and returned kind acts. Thank you, Lord. In your name, Amen."
Uniform - A few uniform reminders.
Please ensure your child is in correct winter uniform. I have noticed that some students are not wearing their ties and plain black shoes.
Jackets are plain black - please no netball hoodies at school.
I have a large supply of second hand winter shorts to give away - junior and middle sizes. Please let us know if you would like any of our second hand supplies.
There is a large selection of unnamed items in the Lost Property Chest.
For all your new uniform items our stock is down at NZ Uniforms.
Special thanks to Tony Meachen who donated a range of balls for our instructional PE programme. Tony, you have truly brought joy to many of our students.

A sample of children's artwork on display.

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

A Prayer written by Father James:
Do Not Be Afraid
Many times, Jesus,
you urged your friends not to be afraid.
I need to hear these words – indeed
the whole world needs to hear them –
as the siege under Covid-19 continues.
We fear a virus we cannot control,
a virus we cannot see,
a virus that separates us from one another.
Help us to trust your words and your presence
to know in our hearts that
we need not be afraid.
Amen.
