Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
This Friday is our School Feast Day. The Feast of the Sacred Heart.
Lord, you deserve all honour and praise,
because your love is perfect and your heart sublime.
My heart is filled to overflowing with gratitude
for the many blessings and graces you have bestowed upon me and those
whom I love.
May I always be attentive
and never take for granted the gifts of mercy and love
that flow so freely and generously from your Sacred Heart.
Heart of Jesus, I adore you.
Heart of Jesus, I praise you.
Heart of Jesus, I thank you.
Heart of Jesus, I love you forever and always.
Amen.
Last week, we celebrated the amazing work our Support Staff do helping our children with their learning and wellbeing during the school day. Special thanks to Frances, Cathy, Rachel, Alison and Robyn all who make superb contributions to the team here at school.
We also celebrated the Philippine Independence Day on 12th June with our Filipino students who dressed up in their Filipino traditional attire.

Thank you also to Robyn and the team at After School Care. This service provides affordable care for students after school, a healthy snack plus making a good start on homework. After School Care provides a very valuable income stream to our school. We are very appreciative of all those families who support it.
A special welcome to Ayana, who started in Room 1 on Monday 15 June. You are going to thoroughly enjoy your time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School and we look forward to welcoming you and your family.
I have noticed a large number of students in the playground after school. Please ensure you have appropriate After School Care arrangements. You are more than welcome to use After School Care as a casual $15.00 per day.
Thank you for the special way you support our school.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Visit from St Catherine's College
Steve Bryan (Principal of St Catherine's College) visited our school with 2 ex-students of Sacred Heart, Ella and Aine, visited the school to speak to our Year 8 girls on Friday, 12 June.
Open Afternoon on 1 July 1.30 -2.30 pm
You are most welcome to come into school 1 July 1.30-2.30pm and see what our students are learning about and to celebrate Matariki. A cup of tea and afternoon tea will be available in the staffroom.
We are looking forward to seeing you all and sharing our learning with you.
Parish Food Bank - Mufti Day on Thursday (2nd July)
We would like to make a donation to the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish food bank as part of our Matariki celebrations. We want to give offerings of food to those who may need it. We thought we would focus on items for breakfast the most important meal of the day. Our students will decorate paperbags for the items to be put in.
We are holding a mufti day on Thursday, 2nd July - if children could bring along a breakfast item instead of a gold coin, this would be much appreciated.
We will take the donated food items over to Father David on the Thursday 2nd July.
NO Parking on Catholic Centre Grounds
The following request has been made to all our parents:
Please do not drive or park in the Catholic Centre grounds to drop off or pick up your children.
Recent near misses of pedestrians, speeding vehicles and parking in carparks reserved for staff only has necessitated this request.
The parks at the Catholic Centre are for staff and visitors to the Centre only.

The Wellington Curtain Bank is a social service that upcycles preloved curtains & fabric turning them into made-to-measure curtains for homes that really need them.
The idea is simple. Well fitted, double-layered curtains help keep cold air out and warm air in.
Warmer homes = less housing-related health issues.
Did you know that if you have a Community Services Card of a SuperGold Combo Card and live in the Wellington region, you could get free double-layered made to measure curtains from the Wellington Curtain Bank? https://sustaintrust.org.nz/get-curtains
