Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
The return to school has gone really smoothly and it has been brilliant to see how excited the students have been to get back to their learning and social routines.
This week we celebrate Samoa Langauage Week.
The theme for Samoa Language week is 'Tapena sou ōso mo lau malaga' which in English means 'Prepare yourself a gift for your travels.'
This year's theme urges us to prepare for the journey ahead. It highlights the need to honour, respect and share the gifts of our life's journey. Please wear a little something this week to celebrate Samoa.

Cyber Safety - Please keep those channels of communication open if your child is participating in social media. The key message we give here at school is "Think before you post."
We know some of our families are still feeling a bit anxious about sending their children back to school, which is understandable given everything we have been through these past 2 months. Please let your child's classroom teacher know if your child requires more learning to complete.
Instances of Covid-19 in New Zealand are very low and here in Wellington Region we have 0 cases, with the last case reported on 16 April.
We’re aware of concerns out there that people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus. The Ministry of Health has advised us that there is no instance in New Zealand of someone spreading the virus without ever having symptoms.
Our school is a safe place to be. Even though there is such a low risk of the virus getting in the school gates to start with, we will be keeping up our hygiene practices and other public health measures as an extra precaution for as long as we’re at Alert Level 2.
If you come on to the school property, please contact trace through the school app or sign in/out at the school office.
Please all have an enjoyable long weekend. Please note there is no school this Friday as it is a Teacher Only Day. Keep safe and recharge for the rest of the school term.
Thank you for all your support especially under Alert Level 2. We are part of a fantastic school community.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
SchoolApps Covid 19 Check-In Module
When visiting the school, to 'check in' via the SchoolApp, you will need the latest version of SchoolApps on your phone. You can do this either by scanning the QR code or going directly to the App Store/Google Play, enter SchoolAppsNZ and it will let you know if you need to 'update' the app. Once you have updated to the latest version, the 'COVID-19 Check-in' will appear in your menu and you will only need to enter your personal details once, then this will be stored on your phone. You do need to enter something in the 'Reason' field each time.
