Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We are super excited to be welcoming back students on Monday 18th May. Please have a good read of our Alert 2 plan. Distance learning will continue until the end of the week.
Please don't worry if you have not purchased all your winter uniform bits and pieces. You have until Queens Birthday Weekend to get this sorted. You can purchase a tie from school for $20.00. Just a reminder that our uniform is all down at NZ Uniforms. We have a large selection of second hand to give away. If you need something just send an email and hopefully we can just give it to your child
Please take the time to have a look at all the photos and videos from our Sports Day. Truely amazing! Thank you to all of wonderful families who took learning to a whole new level. You have certainly raised the bar for 2021.
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Atawhai ngā rito, kia puāwai ngā tamariki.
Ako i ngā tamariki, kia tu tāngata ai, tātou katoa.
Cherish and nurture the shoots, so the children will bloom.
Learn from and with these children, so that we all can stand tall.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

How to Master Waterbending
By Joshua
How to build it up:
- Make sure you do not have anything distracting like music, toys, etc.
- Start with half a bucket of water (only when you master it you can move on to the bigger amounts).
- Focus your mind on trying to lift the water without your hands.
How to use it:
- Once you master it, you can: walk on water, control water flow, turn water into ice and shoot it and change the shape of the water.
How to avoid detection:
- Try to go somewhere secret.
- Before using it to practise, always look if anyone is watching.
- Only use it when it is necessary.
How to control water:
- Sit down on a chair with a half full bucket of water.
- Close your eyes and hold out your hands facing the water.
- REALLY focus hard on the water and your hands.
- After a while you will hear dripping noises. (Do NOT lose focus.)
- Concentrate your hardest to keep control.
- When you hear loud splashing noises, you can open your eyes and you will see water floating in the air, and that's when you know that you have mastered controlling water!
