Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Special thanks for your amazing generosity last week for our mufti day. Our Christmas Raffle is all set to go. Thanks to Sue Cranney who organised the baskets and to Natalie and our senior students who arranged our raffle baskets. A great team effort. There are 12 Christmas hampers to be won!
Raffle tickets were sent home with the youngest child in each family on Monday. Each envelope contained 5 raffle tickets @ $2.00 per ticket. Please send money and ticket butts (the end of the ticket with the name and contact details) back to the school by Friday, 29 November. Extra tickets are available from the school office. Winners will be drawn on Wednesday, 4 December.
Congratulations to all of our students who made their Confirmation last Sunday evening at St. Mary's of the Angels. Cardinal John made special mention of how prepared the children were for this event. Thank you to our families who support our "Sacremental Co-ordinators" Bede and Angela with this very important learning.

Please ensure your child is in correct school uniform. Please note that the school uniform footwear is black sandals or black school shoes (no white or coloured soles). If you have any school uniform that your child has grown out of and want to donate it to the school, we will hand it on to another family. Thanking you in advance for this. Supporting us with correct uniform is part of who we are at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. If you require any support with uniform, please contact me.
Arohanui,

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

This Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King - the Gospel paraphrased
Luke 23:35-43
The people stood there watching. The leaders mocked Jesus saying, ‘He saved others – now let him save himself, if he is the Christ, the Chosen One of God.’ The soldiers mocked him as well, coming up and offering him vinegar, while saying, ‘If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself.’ There was an inscription written above him that read in Greek, Latin and Hebrew, ‘This is the King of the Jews.'
And then one of the criminals hanging there cursed him saying, ‘If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!’ But the other rebuked him saying, ‘Don’t you have any fear of God. We all got the same judgement but we deserved it for what we had done. This man did nothing wrong.’ And to Jesus he said, ‘Jesus, remember me, Lord, when you come into your kingdom.’ And Jesus said, ‘In all truth I tell you, this day you will be with me in paradise.’
