Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.

Amen.

Attendance continues to be a top priority for the government, which has set a target of 80% of students attending school for more than 90% of the term by 2030. To achieve this, schools must aspire to reach an average daily attendance rate above 94%.
Last week, 9th-13th June, we were 88.27%.
The Pasifika Group was all surprised to see the Poporazzi group waiting for us in room 4. We were all introduced to their web show and what they do. It was fun seeing why they made a group and some of the movies that other schools had made. I was a camera person and shot all the videos with my group. I really enjoyed making the movie and will definitely make some movies of my own with my friends. I am really grateful for them letting us have the opportunity to make a film and I hope they come back again so we can make another film with them. It was so much fun! - Ellie (Room 9)

Sacred Heart Aces (Year 7/8) played the Seatoun Pulse and won 25–19. The Aces showed great teamwork, consistently working together to drive the ball toward goal and turning over possession when needed. It was a tough game against a strong Pulse side that kept the pressure on right until the final whistle. Player of the day to Iris and Amelia (Room 9), whose defensive partnership led to several key intercepts and turnovers. Magic moment was awarded to Sacha(Room 8) for her outstanding defence in the goal circle, and Captain’s Choice Magic Moment went to Lupe (Room 8), for simply being an awesome netballer!
Sacred Heart Ferns (Year 5/6) had a great game against Saint Annes Turbos over the weekend, finishing in a 12-12 draw. The game was more fast-paced than our previous games, and the girls did a great job stepping up and adjusting to this. They kept focus on their jobs of finding space and sticking with their partners on defence. There was a lot of hustle down both ends of the court in the shooting circle and the defensive end, and we are very proud of the girls for not giving up even as the score went up and down. Player of the day went to Micah (Room 6) for her hard work in the centre position and making sure she was always there to be an option to bring the ball down the court. Also, special mention to Hannah (Room 7), who played her first game of netball with us and did an awesome job picking up the centre position quickly and giving defence a go.
SHCS Marvels (Year 5/6) were back in action after a two-week break, taking on Nga Mokopuna Teina in what turned out to be a real battle on court. The girls fought hard but came up just short, going down 5-6 in a tough, physical game.
It was one of those matches where every goal counted, and you could feel the intensity from both teams right until the final whistle. The Marvels showed they hadn't lost any of their fighting spirit, putting up a strong defensive effort and never giving up despite the pressure. The girls can hold their heads high knowing they left everything on court, and this close result will definitely give them something to build on for their next games.
Great effort from all the players!
The Player of the Day was Kaatia (Room 6) for the amazing efforts in goal and in defence. Special mention to Elle (Room 6) for the great effort on D and turnover balls.
