Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you Miko for your Tea Ceremony for Staff:

Our classrooms have been pumping with lots of great learning. Don't forget to sign up for interviews with your child's teacher so that you can deepen your understanding with what your child is confident in with their learning and what needs to be strengthened.
This Friday, we will be launching our Musical Bingo community event. We want every child to come dressed as their favourite pop star or a character from their favourite song.
As Matariki rises, it offers us a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, and look ahead together. It’s a time to honour whānau, community, and renewal. In workplaces and our homes, it's a time to reflect on the strength that comes from embracing diversity and inclusion.
Please note, there is no school next Thursday, 19th June as it is the Ministry of Education structured Maths Day, and then the following day, we celebrate Matariki.
Have a good week ahead and keep warm.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Attendance continues to be a top priority for the government, which has set a target of 80% of students attending school for more than 90% of the term by 2030. To achieve this, schools must aspire to reach an average daily attendance rate above 94%.
Last week, 3rd-6th June, we were 83.15%.
If your child is absent from school, please contact the school to let us know the reason for your child's absence. You can do this in a number of ways:
1. Download SchoolAppsNZ on your mobile phone (Apple and Andriod). Click to open the SchoolAppsNZ, click on Absentee, click email and fill out the fields; or click call office. If you choose to call the office, please stay on the line and press 2, to leave a message on the school answerphone.
2. Call the school landline at 04 472 4047 and follow the instructions above.
3. Email office@sacred-heart.school.nz.
It is important for the school office to know the reason for your child's absence so that it can be coded correctly.
If your child has a sibling turning 5 years old (new entrant) or older (up to Year 8 level of age), please fill out an enrolment form for your child. Please click on this link to download the enrolment forms under the “Enrolment Pack” section of the school website: https://sacred-heart.school.nz/our-school/enrolment/. Once you have filled in and completed the enrolment forms, please scan them back to us and email the forms to the office at office@sacred-heart.school.nz on or before the 31st of July at 12:00 noon.

This gallery will close Midnight, Monday, 23rd June and orders placed before the gallery closes aim to be dropped off at your school by Friday, 18th July. Orders to be posted will be processed at the same time as the prints that are to be returned to the school. Digital files are purchased as is and retouching requests may incur fees.
The gallery will remain live and online for up to 12 months after the main ordering period closes, postage and packing fees may also apply as drop off at school is not available with late orders. The school does not receive any fundraising percentage on sales and payments placed after the main ordering period finishes.
To view and order your photographs:
1. Go to our website at https://www.

It is greatly appreciated. If you have a sandwich press or a toasted sandwich maker we could borrow, please label the cord and send it to school on Monday or Tuesday. We also need cheese slicers.
Mid-Term Reports on Wednesday (18th June)
Our mid-term reports will go home next Wednesday, 18th June.
Our teachers have worked hard and have reflected on the progress your child has made so far this year.
They have also prepared the next learning steps, plus ways you can support learning at home.
As you are aware, the Ministry of Education has introduced a new curriculum, which incorporates revised teaching approaches and a structured learning content at each level.
As a staff, we have made small tweaks to our reporting so that the report includes the new " phases of learning".
We look forward to seeing whānau at our upcoming learning conferences.

INTERZONE CROSS COUNTRY:

- Owen (Room 5)
- Enrico (Room 9)

- Will (Room 10)
Thank you so much to Adele and Fel, who helped transport students to the event, and all the parents who were there to cheer the students on.
BASKETBALL:
Sacred Heart Dunks (Year 3/4) - The team had a super win on Monday. There was some amazing shooting from Hunter (Room 3), who scored lots of points. Last time the team drew with this team in grading, but won 21-8 this time! Player of the day was Alex (Room 5), who did some super defending to stop those goals going in.
Sacred Heart Throws (Year 5/6) - Well played, team. Good teamwork. We lost against St Ben's Knicks. Congratulations to Landon (Room 7), who was awarded player of the day.
Sacred Heart Dunkin Donuts (Year 7/8) played a close, competitive game this week against Raroa Rainmakers. They were even at one stage near the end but managed to score a few more baskets and the final score was 19-14. Lucas (Room 10) was awarded player of the day.
