Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
I hope you have had a week with plenty of joy.
Our Junior School had an amazing time at the Home of Compassion last week. It was so special for our tamariki to hear about Suzanne Aubert's life and its impact on our local area. Special thanks to Father James who also shared about being a priest. Special thanks to our whānau who accompanied and helped our team out with supervision.
We welcome San in Room 1 who started school today. You are going to love your time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School and will make lots of new life long friends.
Thanks Judy for a copy of the Marist Messanger of 1965 - Judy features on the cover as she was a student at our school.
Thank you to all the families that have paid or are making payments towards their school donations. These donations allow us to pay for the rich curriculum that we deliver, our trips, and the additional support we give learners with their literacy and mathematics.
Donations to the school are voluntary and tax deductible. If payment is received before 1st April 2025, you can claim your 2025 donations rebate from IRD this year. Please reach out to Cathy or Frances if you require a receipt.
If you have any concerns about your child's learning or social interactions in the classroom or playground, please reach out to your child's teacher first and then, if necessary, the syndicate leader (Sue—Juniors, Hannah—Middles, and Julius—Seniors).
We have had a fantastic Kotahitanga Day today. There is so much that I love about our school something that is very special and unique to us is the way we embrace culture. Going forward we are setting up our students to embrace our diverse world. Special thanks for the super effort everyone went to in dressing in their culture and the delicious food that was dropped off into school. Our school is taonga. We are all blessed
Thank you for all that you do for our school.
Have a wonderful week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Attendance continues to be a top priority for the government, which has set a target of 80% of students attending school more than 90% of the term by 2030. To achieve this, schools need to aspire to reach an average daily attendance rate above 94%.
Last week, 24-28th of March, we were 90.79%.
Please do not come up to Guildford Terrace to drop your child at school or to pick them up when school finishes at 2.40 PM.
There are 1,000 students going up and down the driveway between Sacred Heart Cathedral School and St Mary's College plus there are residents who live on Guildford Terrace including the Sisters of Mercy.
Parking is tricky. There are parks out the back on Hawkestone Street plus Hill Street. If you need to be a bit longer there are always parks down on Molesworth Street.
Keeping our students safe has to be a number 1 priority.
Please give us feedback so we can reflect and improve our curriculum delivery - 2025 Community Consultation. Thank you.
We had a wonderful celebration of culture and food from across the world.

In the Middle Syndicate, we had our first ‘Scatch Club’ session at lunchtime on Wednesday last week. The students loved creating a game and sharing it with their peers. The Year 6 scratch leaders did a great job at helping the younger students and first timers playing on scratch.
