Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Term 1 has started off well. We have certainly been enjoying the lovely weather. The students have been getting to know each other, the staff at our school and the systems and routines that make our school the great place it is.
Classes have been taking advantage of the stunning weather we have been having.

Please reach out if you have any uniform requirements. We have a good stock of clean secondhand that we encourage families to take. If you can't get into school to have a look just let us know what you need and we can have a look.
No school tomorrow as it is Waitangi Day.
We gathered together as school for karakia as we show respect for our founding document that was signed in 1840.
Every year on 6th February, New Zealand marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. In that year, representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Māori chiefs signed New Zealand’s founding document. The day was first officially commemorated in 1934, and it has been a public holiday since 1974.
Here, I am sharing the history of the school to our Room 1 students.
Children who have not been picked up after school are to sit on the area by the vehicle gate until their family member arrives, see photo below.
Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any concerns. We look forward to seeing you at our goal-setting next week and meeting the teacher. At Sacred Heart Cathedral School we always encourage a positive mindset. A positive mindset is so important because it makes knowledge stick and is committed to memory.
Have a fantastic week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
A very short 5-minute overview of curriculum from a Sacred Heart Cathedral School perspective.
St Mary's College have alerted us to the fact that quite a few parents are parking at St Mary's College before school starts, end of the school day, and even parking in teachers' parks.
Parking for Sacred Heart Cathedral School parents is down on Hill Street or surrounding streets.
Thank you so much for your co-operation with this matter as St Mary's College are so generous with our school and letting us use courts and grounds as an extension to our playground.
At Sacred Heart Cathedral School, students hand their phone to their teacher. It is returned at the end of the school day.
We have several parents who have volunteered to support new families find their way at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. If you would like to be put in touch with a parent to support you with your journey here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School, please reach out to the office - 04 472 4047 (stay on the line, listen to the prompts and press 1 to be connected to the office) or email - office@sacred-heart.school.nz and we will match you up with a volunteer parent from your child's syndicate.
