You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome to 2025!
A brand-new year, filled with endless opportunities, fresh challenges, and the promise of growth, unity, and success. As we gather again in this special place, our school we are reminded of the strength and beauty of our community.
This year, let us hold fast to our values: love, faith, compassion, and resilience. Together, we will nurture a space where each child feels valued, where every voice is heard, and where our shared faith binds us closer as a whānau.
We return to Sacred Heart Cathedral School not just as individuals but as part of a collective, one that embraces our shared purpose and celebrates the unique gifts each of us brings. As a school community, we’ll continue to grow academically, spiritually, culturally and socially, building on the foundation of aroha (love) and manaakitanga (hospitality) that sets us apart.
Whether you're stepping into our gates for the first time or have been with us for many years, know that you belong here, and together we will make 2025 an unforgettable year. Let’s embrace the challenges ahead with courage and joy, and remember that through God’s grace, all things are possible.
Here’s to a year of wonder, connection, and success. Let’s make it one to remember!

SUMMER FOOTBALL:
Happy Feet played their last game last year, and played really well in another tough game, unfortunately ending in a 5-2 defeat to Tama Tu Tama Toa. With no subs available, our 5 lads all played hard the whole game and despite being exhausted they never gave up against the older team. Player of the day was awarded to Khoi, Room 2, for a superb save in goal and good sportsmanship helping a team mate up. Special mention also to Xander, Room 2, for his awesome long distance goal from the right wing in the last minutes! Enjoy a well earned rest team!
Last year, Anaiah was awarded an acheivement for Advanced Student Honour roll in Kumon Maths Programme 2024. Well done, Anaiah!
During the school holidays, Enrico attended the Hawke's Bay Cricket Camps for Year 7 and Year 8 grades. He Played ten 30 over matches and one 50 Over match across 8 days for 2 different Wellington Cricket Clubs, he was awarded MVP for 2 games and entered the honours board for his great knock of 44 runs of 27 balls against the Wairarapa Cricket club, also he received several awards for his outstanding individual performance for the team. Well done, Enrico!

During the School Holidays, Owen attended the Hawke's Bay Cricket Camps for the Year 5 Hawke's Bay Invitational team, and played 2 years ahead of his school year level. It was his first game in Hard ball and he hit the one and only six for his team across the tournament for which he was awarded MVP for the match, well done Owen!
Owen and Achie were part of the same team for Hawke's Bay Cricket Camp.
