Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Another fabulous week here at school. Congratulations to the girls who represented our school at the Fifa opening ceremony last Thursday afternoon. Please listen to the beautiful waiata as each waka passed us.
Seeing Aotearoa host the FIFA Women's Football World Tournament. What a beacon of inspiration this event has been for our young women aspiring footballers right across the globe. It is uplifting and has drawn capacity crowds to our sports stadiums and millions more to TV screens across the world, united in their love and appreciation of the game they call football.
We are very grateful to our staff and road patrollers who ensure that everyone who needs to cross Hill Street do so in a safe way. Please role model to your own children that crossing at the crossing is the safest way.
Please reach out to us if you require anything that will enhance your child here at school with their learning.
A beautiful prayer that we had this morning during our staff reflection.
We need a Winter in our lives a time to rest, a time to stand still, a time to reacquaint ourselves with the faith in which we live. It is only then we can draw strength from the one in whom we are rooted, take time to grow, and rise through the darkness into the warm glow of your springtime to blossom and flourish. Bring colour and vitality into this world with your garden. Thank you Father for the seasons of our lives.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

St Lorenzo Ruiz - Planning Meeting Tonight at 5pm
To All Our Filipino Families:
A friendly reminder regarding the email that was sent to our Filipino community on Thursday, 20th July.
We are excited to invite you to support us in planning a special event to celebrate the upcoming Feast of St. Lorenzo on Thursday, 7th September.
St. Lorenzo is well-known for his virtues of selflessness, compassion, and service. We believe it is a great opportunity to come together as a school community to honour his legacy.
We invite you to a planning meeting, where we can brainstorm ideas, and organise an event for the Feast of St. Lorenzo Ruiz. This event will be an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the rich Filipino traditions and faith of our school.
Planning Meeting:
Date: Tonight (Wednesday), 26th July.
Time: 5.00pm
Venue: Room 9, SHCS.
During this meeting, we will explore possible parts of the event, such as liturgy, decorations, music, cultural performances, and community participation. Your insights and contributions will play an important role in shaping this celebration.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but still wish to contribute, please let us know, and we will ensure your ideas and suggestions are included in our planning discussions.
Together, we can create an event that celebrates our wonderful Sacred Heart Filipino community. If you have any questions, or ideas, or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Maraming salamat po.

Seniors Technology:
Our senior students go to Karori West Normal School each Tuesday for technology lessons and carry out a range of activities.

Kaitiako Team:
Amy Tattersfield from the Wellington City Council came to school this week to give us a compsting bin. The Kaitiaki Team put it together and learned what they need to do to compost effectively. Over the next few weeks they will be placing small bins in each classroom to begin composting so we cut down the rubbish we create at school.

The testing day for our students will be on Friday, 8th September. We would love to encourage our students to reach out to extended family members to sponsor them.
