Important Notice - Paid Union Meeting this Wednesday (31 May)
Important Notice:
Wednesday, 31 May – Paid Union Meeting (12.30-2.40pm) instead of strike action.
Tēnā koutou,
As you may be aware, the ongoing issue regarding industrial claims from teachers and principals has yet to be resolved. A new offer has been put forward after urgent meetings held last week between the NZEI and the Ministry of Education. The primary teacher strike planned for Wednesday, 31st May will not go ahead. However, a Paid Union Meeting (PUM) will be held where teachers can gather to hear the offer. The Secretary of Education has decided to waive the requirement of a 14-day notice for this PUM.
The PUM is scheduled to take place this Wednesday, 31 May (1:00 to 3:00 pm). Consequently, the school day will follow its usual schedule from 8:40am to 12:30 pm. However, from 12:30pm the school will only be open for supervision with minimal staff on site. On Wednesday, we encourage you to pick up your child at 12.30pm as all the teaching staff are union members attending the PUM. After School Care will be available as usual from 2.40pm for those children that remain at school.
If your child will need supervision on Wednesday from 12.30-2.40pm, please email Cathy - office@sacred-heart.school.nz by Monday 29 May at midday to let her know.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding of our teachers.
