Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, let us take a moment to offer a prayer for our families and loved ones:
Heavenly Father, We come before you with grateful hearts, thanking you for the gift of our families. As we celebrate the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ, we ask that you fill our homes with your love and peace. May our conversations be filled with joy and laughter, and may we create lasting memories that will bring us closer together.
We pray for those who are unable to be with their families this Easter, that they may feel your presence and know that they are loved. We also remember those who are struggling, and ask that you bring them comfort and peace.
We thank you for the gift of your Son, who died and rose again so that we may have eternal life. May we never take this gift for granted, but instead seek to live our lives in a way that honors and glorifies you.
We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Congratulations to Kate and Mike Woodbury, whose eldest son, Jack was married in the weekend. By all accounts, it was a beautiful day had by all and the cloudy day did not dampen celebrations.
Cultural Day - Shared Morning Tea:

Our cultural day was a huge success with our students. They all took advantage of trying out new foods during the shared morning tea. A BIG THANK YOU to our parents for providing our students with such delicious food to share!
May this Easter be a time of renewal and blessings for you and your family.
Have a wonderful term break and we look forward to an action-packed term 2-2023.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Recycle Upcycle Silent Auction
If you have something at home that you no longer want and think that another family may find it useful, please send it to school and we will have a silent auction to raise money for resources for our school.
Please make sure that these items are in great condition (look brand new). You may have been given something you have never used or don't require. If you have a business and are happy to donate an item that would be amazing as well.
So far we have brand new make-up, perfume, and small items of furniture.
All donations can be left at school by Wednesday, 10th May.
Money raised will go towards our external environment.
Flick me an email or call if you are unsure of your donation - bernadette.murfitt@sacred-heart.school.nz.
If you would like to help me with the silent auction, please reach out. Thank you.
SUMMER FOOTBALL:
The Sacred Heart strikers had their final summer soccer game on Friday. A great 1-0 win to finish the season. Player of the day was Dom (Rm 7).
NETBALL:
Sacred Heart Magic (Years 3 & 4)
Late February, we managed to pull a team of year 3 and 4 students together to enter a team to participate in the ANZ future FERNS Netball Programme through Motu Kairangi this is where they play a modified version of the game (5v5) as the main focus for this age group is learning basic skills, using two-thirds of a Netball court.
Wow, what a season it has been! I couldn’t be prouder of the team on how far they have come, improvements in their individual skills and teamwork and to see them grow in confidence each week!
Big shout out to our supporters and parents who were on the sideline every week cheering the girls on and helping on the court!
Finally, Fa’afetai tele lava to the team! Thank you for your awesome efforts!
Anna, Blandina, Colette, Isabelle, Kaatia, Lyla, Margaux and Micah!
