Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
All is going well for us here at school. We are certainly enjoying the days when the sun is shining. Classrooms are full of joy and there is a lot of beautiful singing as we prepare for our End of Year Mass At St Pauls Cathedral at 1pm on Wednesday, 14th December.
In fact, the singing was so amazing at assembly on Monday that all of our students were rewarded with an iceblock treat.
Room 2 led us in our Assembly and played a few Carols for us including Little Donkey.
As we wait for this Advent, we wait in wonder at what the world might be: a place of fairness and welcome, where everyone has what they need to live fully.
As we wait for this advent we pray for all in our human family who hope for a better life, rich with possibility. Hopeful God help us share your hope.
Amen.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Thank you to all families who participated in our home well-being challenges. Congratulations to Hazel who was the recipient of the Rebel Sport voucher and to all our other lucky winners who received a water bottle or ball.
We have worked so hard to try and bring many strategies that promote well-being with our students and staff. Our whānau well-being challenges were an opportunity to do all sorts of exciting activities. Going by how many of the bingo squares were in the kete there has been a lot of well-being being activated across our Sacred Heart Cathedral School community.
For example:
- creating something from recyclable materials
- reading and storytelling
- Getting moving with whānau training sessions
- Singing
- Drinking plenty of water
- Sharing notes of gratitude
- Drawing
- Creating a meal together

Congratulations to all students who participated in the EPro8 Challenge. The staff and parents were in awe of you as you all worked together, sometimes under extreme pressure to complete tasks. We were all so proud of you and we could see your skills in innovation, creativity, literacy, problem-solving, and team work were at the forefront during the competition. Special mention also to the supportive whānau on the night. You instilled confidence in our young people.

What a wonderful night we all had at the disco.
Thank you to all the families that came, stayed, and supervised. It really was a wonderful opportunity to connect again as a school community.

Junior Tag National Tournament:
Congratulations to Pierre, whose team (Horowhenua-Kapiti under 11s team) was selected to play in the Junior Tag National Tournament, held in Auckland.
Tag is like touch rugby but instead of 'touching' a player to get them to pass, the opposition has to pull one of the tags off the players hips. The aim of the game is to pull the tags off your opponents so they can’t score a try.
It was an fantastic Nationals campaign for the Horowhenua-Kapiti under 11s team, they were undefeated (winning 6 out of 6 games) and came away National winners.
