Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This week has been All Saints Day and All Souls Day. We remember all those who have passed and are no longer with us.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon them. May they Rest in Peace.

Paid Union Meetings:
Teachers in our school will be attending paid union meetings on Tuesday, 15th November to discuss the progress of negotiations for their collective employment agreements.
This campaign aims to win smaller class sizes, more support for high-needs students, better recognition of cultural skills, greater job security for our essential relievers and to fairly value and recognise the work of teachers. Our school will aim to ensure the least disruption to children's learning while upholding the right of teachers to participate in their union meeting. It will be a normal school day, however, your child may be working with a buddy class for part of the day. Junior Swimming will continue as normal.
Have a great week. Thanks for all your support.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

This is a book for children about anxiety.
Understanding why anxiety feels the way it does and where physical symptoms come from is a powerful step in turning anxiety around.

John Mainu'u and Hip Hop Friday
Thank you so much to John and Layana who took the whole school through their paces of fitness and dance.
The sessions were so energising and it was amazing to see the fantastic fitness levels of our students and staff.
John we really appreciate you coming into school and motivating us all to have fun with music. Layana (Rm 6), you are a real leader in the fitness field and we loved watching the way you supported your Dad.

Swimming is a really important part of our New Zealand Curriculum. Participating in our swimming programme will give your child an opportunity to develop swimming skills and water confidence. There is a selection of togs downstairs in second-hand uniform if your child needs togs.
New Zealand had a shocking summer of drownings with the highest number of fatalities last year, the worst on record in a decade. Water Safety NZ has released its final report on drownings in 2021, which shows that 90 people died.
