Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you for all your ongoing support throughout the term. It really has been a challenging year for many. Please make sure you take time to rest up and do all those activities that bring joy. Term 4 is a short term for us all.
Tomorrow, 29th September is our last day of Term 3 and a non-uniform day for our students.
This week is mental health awareness week. Resilience is such an important component that we need to develop in ourselves and our students. You may get a few ideas from the following.
This week is also Chinese Language week and as the great Chinese Philosopher said:

Aotearoa New Zealand as of yesterday has had a population increase of 3. Congratulations to Frances, Joshua and Peter who have just become New Zealand citizens. Frances enjoyed a " Kiwi" morning tea with her work colleagues this morning.

Wishing you all a wonderful break. Please take time to recharge. We look forward to seeing you all next term. Please have a look at the school calendar as we have several community events scheduled.

BASKETBALL: Year 7 & 8 for 28th Sept Game
Sacred Heart Lightning vs Hataitai Flames loss 28-34. Well done team for coming in 4th Place in A Division 3!
Sacred Heart Thunder vs Kahurangi Toa (2nd Place in A Division 2) - "Yesterday, I enjoyed stepping in for Matt to help SH Thunder play against Kahurangi Toa at ASB. Missing some of their teammates didn’t deter them to give their best for their last game this term and against one of the best teams in the league. Each of them displayed their wit and talent inside the court. Their ball-handling and guarding skills are spot-on. It is one of the best I’ve seen so far! A few parents from the other team approached me too to commend the players on their very good performance and on keeping the score as close as possible to a point that they only had a 1 point lead against our Sacred Heart Thunders team and the game concluded at 40-30. Three cheers to all of you lads! Special kudos to Felix - the team got inspired by your quick manoeuvres in the court, awesome and Zachary with those outstanding rebounds. Well done team!" - Joseph (Keiffer's Dad)

Bricks4Kidz STEM Holiday Programme
Bricks4Kidz is a STEAM-based, educational programme using Lego to build and learn about the world (while of course, having fun)! The programme came to Wellington at the end of last year, but has run very successfully elsewhere in NZ for many years, after starting in the US.
See our website for further details:
https://www.bricks4kidz.co.nz/wellington-north/
Currently, we are running holiday programmes for Years 1-8 every school holidays, in Mt Cook and Johnsonville, and are aiming to expand into other suburbs. We have also run after-school coding, "introduction to robotics" classes and in-school workshops as part of the technology/science curriculum. We are keen to work with schools across Wellington city to enhance their teaching of STEM subjects in the classroom, and to provide good quality out of school care.
Please contact me, Kathryn Graham (Bricks4Kidz Administrator) on the above email, or 021 02334492 (home phone - leave a text msg with a number & I'll get back to you if no answer.)
