Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Thanks for all your ongoing support especially with the protest at Parliament yesterday. Students were escorted down to the station and bus terminal safely.
As a staff, we were super proud of Janiva (Rm 6), JC (Rm 7), Vanessa (Rm 8) and Keiffer (Rm 9) last night at Mt Cook School who represented Sacred Heart Cathedral School at the Central Zone Speech Competition. High-caliber speeches presented by our confident capable students, all combined with superb whānau connections. Such a great night. Thanks also to Judy Houlahan our school judge who supported our school in preparing for this competition.
We are part of an exceptional community - thank you for all your contributions that make this school such a great place.
We are looking forward to our Grandparent's Liturgy tomorrow at 1.20pm. Parking will be available on the school court at 1pm.
If you have any issues regarding the progress your child is making with their learning, please contact your child's teacher.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

At some point, each of us will experience anxiety and stress.
Recognising that you are experiencing anxiety is the first healthy step toward learning how to manage and cope with your feelings.
Emotional Focussed Strategies:
- Turn to other people for support and talk about how you are feeling.
- Look for ways that show you are a good person and tell yourself.
- Look out for the positives.
- Be still, say a karakia.
Solution Focussed Strategies:
- Try and take action to change the situation that is causing your stress.
- Problem solve, try and design a plan of action.
- Allow time to implement a solution.
Be kind to yourself.

Museum of Wellington City & Sea Junior Syndicate Visit
On the 23rd of August, the Junior Syndicate visited the Museum of City and Sea. We went there to explore the exhibition on the stories of Te Whanganui-a Tara. Hui was our guide, and he shared lots of information and experiences with us. He told us many stories and shared some awesome Māori legends with us. We learnt lots about our harbour and Kupe and the taniwha.

Middle Syndicate (Room 5, 6 & 7) Trip on 5th and 6th September
Tēnā koutou,
The Middle Syndicate will be visiting the Wellington Museum of City and Sea on the 5th and 6th of September. We will be learning about the creation of Te Whanganui-a-Tara and hearing the stories about the city we live in.
We will be walking both ways so students will require warm, waterproof coats to combat the weather. Rooms 5, 6 and 7 will be travelling to and from the museum at different times and each class will require parent helpers.
Please click on the form relating to your child's class to provide your permission for your child to attend and to let us know if you can help.
Ngā mihi nui,
Kate Woodbury, Hannah Purser and John Grevatt
BASKETBALL RESULTS: Year 3 & 4
SH Ninjas vs Kilbernie Grizzlies won 28-12. Player of the day was awarded to Archie (Rm 3).
BASKETBALL RESULTS: Year 7 & 8
Sacred Heart Lightning vs Hataitai Flames won 29-28. Player of the day was awarded to Taitum (Rm 9).
Sacred Heart Thunder vs Clyde Quay Stars - "Great improvement from the team since we played Clyde Quay at the start of last term when we went down 12-45. And while they hit 57 points, it was great to see our team put 28 points on the board, which their coach gave us praise after the game for giving them a run especially in the first quarter. Well done! Too hard to determine a player of the day - for the week." - Coach Matt
NETBALL RESULTS:
Year 5 & 6: Sacred Heart Super Stars vs Owhiro Flame loss 7-11.
Year 7 & 8: Sacred Heart Emeralds vs Scots Tui won 20-6 and Sacred Heart Hearts vs Hataitai Whero loss 8-16.
