Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
I hope all families managed to recharge over the long weekend. Winter is truly upon us.
In the After School Care room we have a lot of surplus uniform that has been donated by families. Please help yourself. Just a few reminders about uniform. Plain black jacket, black shoes and ties which can be purchased from the office at $25.00.
Voting for our 2019 BOT election closes this Friday 7th June at midday. We are very fortunate as a school to have such a range of high quality candidates who want to govern our school.
He aroha whakatō, he aroha puta mai.
If kindness is sown, then kindness you shall receive.
Keep dry, have a great week.

Principal, Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
We are very pleased that 9 of our parents have stepped up and put their name forward to be candidates in our Board of Trustees elections for 5 parent representatives.
All eligible voters should have received a voting form, return envelope and a copy of the candidates' statements in the post. If you have not received a voting form yet, please contact Cathy in the school office on (04) 4724047 urgently.
There is a 'Ballot Box' in the school office where voting papers can be dropped into. Please note one voting paper per envelope and the envelope needs to be the one that was enclosed with the voting papers.
If you prefer to post your voting paper, please place a postage stamp on the envelope that was enclosed and post it by tomorrow at the latest, otherwise drop it off in the ballot box in the school office.
Please support the candidates by voting. You can vote for one or any number up to a maximum of 5 candidates.
Voting closes at NOON (12.00PM) THIS Friday 7 June.
Votes will be counted and results declared on Thursday 13 June.
Proprietor representation on the Board of Trustees
Boards of Trustees for Catholic integrated schools comprise elected parent representatives and Proprietor representatives appointed by Cardinal John Dew. Proprietor representatives are full members of the Board with all the same rights and obligations of other members. They also have particular responsibilities with respect to property management and the Special Character of the school.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral School Board of Trustees is made up of five parent representatives, four proprietor representatives, a teacher representative and the Principal.
The Proprietor representatives on our Board of Trustees are:
- Father Doug Shepherd
- Suzanne Adair (Chairperson)
- Trudy Lagolago
- Geraldine Irinco
The five parent representatives will be decided by an election process which we are in the midst of. Nine candidates are standing for these 5 positions. Voting closes noon this Friday so please bring in your voting paper and place it in the ballot box in the school office before noon, Friday 7 June.
