Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
It is hard to believe we are at the end of term 2. Please take the time in the holidays to recharge with your whānau. As a staff, we are in awe of what the children have been achieving in quite exceptional circumstances. Such challenging times for us all as families recoup after illness, flu and COVID.
We have also been taking advantage of the sunny days we have been having. Our photos were even able to be taken outside on a glorious sunny "Wellington Winters day". Special thanks to everyone for wearing the correct school uniform. An important part of being a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral School community is wearing the correct uniform with pride every single day. Please let me know if I can help out in any way with school uniform. Please remember we have many second uniform items, which we give away free.
I am also so grateful for students, staff and whānau who consistently wear masks. When we wear a mask, we are wearing it to protect others. So special thanks to you all. Staff, Parents who come onto school property, Year 4 students and above are strongly encouraged to wear masks.
A friendly reminder that tomorrow (Thursday), 7th July is our last day of term and sausage sizzle for $2.00 each as a fundraiser for the senior camp. It is also a gold coin donation for Caritas and the children can wear their own choice of clothes tomorrow.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal

Seasons for Growth
Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Sacred Heart Cathedral School we recognise that when significant changes occur in our lives, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively.
We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence in Term 3. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research that highlights the importance of social support and the need to practice new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication, and support networks.
If you think your son or daughter would benefit from Seasons for Growth, we would encourage you to talk to him/her about participating in the program.
If you would like to enroll your child or require further information, please contact John Grevatt - John@sacred-heart.school.nz

BASKETBALL:
Sacred Heart Thunder
Last week, Sacred Heart Thunder won the Division 3 final playoff against Scots Red team, final score 30-18 at ASB Arena in Kilbirnie. Thunder played as a great team unit throughout the game and this helped them overcome a very physical Scots team that put a lot of pressure on our players, especially the ball carriers and shooters. It was too difficult to award a player of the day as the whole team performed great and each player contributed to the team’s success. Great result and the team's looking forward to playing next term too. - Matt (Coach)
Sacred Heart Lightning vs Nga Moto Mareikura loss 30-32.
A special thank you goes out to our coaches, Matt and Nofoa. Thank you for your time and all the skills that you taught the boys on and off the court. From the sideline, we could see there were many Tall Blacks in the making.
NETBALL:
Sacred Heart Emeralds vs South Wellington Kiwi loss 2-46.
Sacred Heart Hearts vs South Wellington Moa loss 3-25.

Hoop Kids League for Year 3 and 4
Registrations are now open for the Primary School Hoop Kids League which takes place in Term 3 on Tuesday afternoons at the ASB Centre. Teams can be made up of boys only or a mixed term of boys and girls. The season is from 26th July to 20th Sept and games start from 3.30pm onwards. Games last 2 x 13 min halves.
Approximate cost per team is $500 for the term which lasts 9 weeks. Depending how many players we get will determine how much per child it will cost. For example, if we get 8 players it would be $62.50 per child for the term (9 weeks).
If your child is interested, please contact Adele (Archie’s Mum) via email on adeleandaaron@gmail.com or 021521326 within today, 7th July.
