Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
I hope you had a restful weekend and enjoyed our first Matariki public holiday.
"A New Year we view with our eyes. You shine down and nurture us here. If we care for the world and all lives. A star-studded future is near".
Today, we are celebrating the Feast Of the Sacred Heart. We are all so fortunate to belong to such an amazing faith community. Every day, I have the absolute pleasure of seeing Jesus present and love in action with our amazing staff, delightful students and supportive whānau. We all need the love of God to strengthen, renew and guide us on our journey.

It was a privilege to attend Mōuri Whenua, Mōuri Tangata, Mōuri Ora – a very moving ceremony to restore the land, people, and life of Parliament last Thursday and on the eve of Matariki.
"We have restored the mauri and wairua here at Parliament grounds and together we must be committed to ensuring that throughout our nation we must move from disconnection to reconnection”. - Taranaki Whānui Chair Kara Puketapu-Dentice.

Seasons for Growth
Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Sacred Heart Cathedral School we recognise that when significant changes occur in our lives, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively.
We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence in Term 3. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research that highlights the importance of social support and the need to practice new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication, and support networks.
If you think your son or daughter would benefit from Seasons for Growth, we would encourage you to talk to him/her about participating in the program.
If you would like to enroll your child or require further information, please contact John Grevatt - John@sacred-heart.school.nz
