Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
I hope you are all keeping well and are wrapping up during this very cold, unpredictable weather we are having.
Uniform:
We have a really good supply of second-hand uniforms. Please feel free to help yourself to any items. Please take the opportunity when you are in school next to have a look at the donated items downstairs beside Room 1.
There is also an enormous amount of lost property. I have returned the named items to the children. There are so many unnamed uniform items in the lost property chest. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD'S UNIFORM IS NAMED. When you are at school, please feel free to have a look through the chest (situated by the automatic doors).
Please note, netball hoddies are not part of the Monday to Friday school uniform.
We are so looking forward to seeing you next week as we celebrate the inaugural acknowledgment of Matariki as a public holiday. The brown bags that the students have been decorating at home to remember loved ones are very special and will be part of our liturgy as we remember loved ones who have passed..
Arrangements for our Matariki celebration include:
Parking will be available on the school court and St Mary's College.
By 5.30pm, please meet down on the steps of the bottom playground as we will start our Matariki Liturgy.
We will proceed through the school reflecting on the year that has been and the year that is coming. Adults, please wear a mask inside the school and hand sanitize on entry into the school.
At the end of the liturgy, there will be an opportunity to view artwork in classrooms have kai, hot chocolate and socialise with other whanau from our school community.
We pray that by celebrating Matariki, we will all be brought closer to the natural world and its rhythms while deepening our care for nature.
Looking forward to seeing you all next week. The classrooms are looking absolutely stunning. Our staff and students have all been working really hard.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Eat My Lunch Volunteer Drivers Needed
We’re a social enterprise on a mission to feed Kiwi kids at school who would otherwise go without.
Every lunch someone Buys, means we can Give a lunch to a Kiwi kid in need. It’s a little gesture that makes a big difference. We currently provide lunches for 12 schools around Wellington, including Sacred Heart Cathedral School, and we couldn’t do it without the help of our amazing volunteers. We make sandwiches from 6.45-8.30am from our Arthur Street kitchen and also get volunteer drivers to help us deliver to the schools from 9-11am.
Volunteering is such a great way to meet new friends and to give back to the community. If there are any parents who would like to support us by doing deliveries or sandwich making, we would love to meet you! For more information just email kiaora@eatmylunch.nz or sign up via our website: eatmylunch.nz.
And finally, just to let you know this is my last week at Eat My Lunch but we've set everything up so that things should run smoothly until we get a new coordinator. However, if you do have any problems please just email Joe or Chelsea at kiarora@eatmylunch.nz and they'll be able to help!
