Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

A very special welcome to Iris who has started in Room 1 this week. Iris, you are going to love your time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School and will make lifelong friends.
Special thanks to all who participated in our goal-setting sessions last week. Doing these through the zoom platform is all part of our "new normal". 2022 has been such a roller-coaster start for us all. We just all need to hang on tight and please reach out to us if we can support you with you your child's learning.
We are coming up to the 5th Sunday of Lent. Our students have been learning about being generous with their words and their hearts.
We have 23 of active COVID 19 cases in our school community. To those families who are isolating, we wish you all a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing children as they return to school.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

'Be Happy' - Free Mufti day on Friday (1 April)
The Student Council have organised a free mufti day for our students on Friday, 1 April with the theme 'Be Happy'.
As you know, it’s great for any child’s wellbeing and learning to be at school with their friends, teachers and other school staff. You also know that we have very good systems in place to keep everyone as safe as possible.
This is why we remain open at Red.
I wanted to remind you that in our school, we are keeping the additional layers of protection in place to help prevent or reduce the risk of onward spread.
We know that being fully vaccinated and boosted reduces the risk of severe illness due to COVID-19. I encourage you to get your child vaccinated.
I know that some of you still have questions about this, however, I’ve included links to a video that answers many of the common questions about the vaccine:

- Common questions about the vaccine (te reo Māori) – KidsHealth
Mask wearing for our students Year 4 and above and for adults remains in place in indoor spaces and we are getting lots of fresh air during the day. We also continue to focus on basic hygiene such as washing hands regularly, covering any coughs and sneezes, and cleaning surfaces regularly.
Like the links above, KidsHealth has some other great resources you may be interested in:

From time to time, some students will need to isolate at home. This is in line with the Government advice and if this happens, we will support them to continue their learning home to minimise any interruption.
If you have any concerns about sending your child to school, please get in touch – our team is here to help. We want children to be at school and engaging in learning with their friends.
Your job remains the same too. Please continue to keep a really close watch of your whānau for anyone with symptoms. If unwell, please stay at home and get advice about getting a COVID-19 test.
