Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
What a historic week it has been domestically and internationally. Both the events at Parliament and in Ukraine are sobering and the unexpected passing of sportspeople in New Zealand and Australia make us all realise how precious life is.
Our staff are so grateful for all the support you have shown us. Learning is looking a little different now. We are going well though. Please don't put any pressure on yourself. Once we have got through this outbreak we can go backfill learning gaps.
At Sacred Heart Cathedral school our staff will continue to provide a curriculum immersed in relevant learning, while always prioritising wellbeing and safety.
We do have COVID in our school community, currently 14 positive student cases. Please continue to monitor for symptoms and please keep your child at home if they are showing any COVID symptoms. Runny nose, sore throat, headache, sore tummy or a loss of appetite.
Please note from 11.59 pm this Friday days in isolation have been reduced from 10 days to 7 days. This applies to household contacts as well. Positive cases will need to have a RAT on Day 3 and Day 7.
Seesaw for Juniors and Google Classroom for seniors will be where learning is posted. All students have Matheletics passwords and Years 1-6 also have reading eggs. You also have a hard copy pack that was sent home earlier in the year.
To those families who are isolating, blessings to you all. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
After School Arrangements:
Please note staff have commitments after school. It has been noted for quite some time that students are waiting well beyond 2.40 pm when school finishes. If your child is walking to your work, they need to be heading to your work at the end of the school day. We do have After School Care available for those who wish to use it on a casual basis as well as permanently.
Keep well and keep safe.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Principal
Sacred Heart Cathedral School

Room 5 Letters of Thanks to the Police
Tomorrow, the money raised from the sale of the ice-blocks will be given as a koha for Pipitea Marae. This is to acknowledge the māmae and hurt they have experienced as mana whenua, during the recent protest events. Te Pora and Shareen, our Kapa Haka tutors, are an important part of our school whānau and will receive the koha during their session with the school on Thursday.
