Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Today, we celebrate Catholic Schools Day. We were very fortunate to have a wonderful group of Liturgy Leaders who were able to share with all students the importance of Catholic Schools. I am truely grateful for the position I have here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. I love my job and I am inspired by the staff, students and whānau that I come into contact with everyday. Here is a beautiful karakia representing all 13 schools in our Wellington City Catholic Kāhui Ako.

This week is also Mental Health Awareness week. There has been so much in the media that supports us all.
This week is all about connecting with the people in our lives and creating space for conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Whether it's checking in with a friend, having a kōrero over some kai or saying hello to a passerby, a little chat can go a long way.
When life gets busy it's easy to forget to check in with the people in our lives, but having a kōrero with others nurtures our relationships and helps us to feel happy, connected and secure. Over time, chats help us to understand each other better and ensure we have people we can count on when times are tough.
Asking your child to tell you 3 things they are grateful for is a great start.
Iti te kupu, nui te oranga
A wealth of life can be found in a few words.
Next term, we will be in summer uniform. This includes a sunhat. We have a small selection of sunhats (9 pcs - small; 1 pc - large; and 14 pcs - extra large) available for sale here at school for $15.00 each. For all your uniform requirements, please head down to NZ Uniforms on Thorndon Quay. You are most welcome to help yourself to any of our second hand stock as well.
Have a well earned break over the holiday period. Thank you for all you do for our school.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Yesterday, the Filipino community celebrated the Feast of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz.
Our Filipino students shared their cultural attire with the rest of the school.
We are looking forward to celebrating Tokelau Language Week - 24 October 2021 to 30 October 2021.
We are asking for our students of Pacific decent to share an artefact/photo/item of clothing that represents culture across the Pacific Islands that we can display outside our library. Please have all items at school by the 2 November.
At our staff meeting on Monday, our staff looked very carefully at Pasifika student data at Year 7 and 8 level from the Wellbeing at School Survey. The students have given the staff feedback that will enhance future learning. We are grateful for the honest feedback.
Mini Lemonade Ice Blocks for Sale
Tomorrow and every Thursday during term 4, our student council will be selling mini lemonade ice blocks for $1.00 each to help raise funds for the 2022 School Camp for Years 7 & 8 students. Please have the correct amount of money to reduce the need for change. Thank you.
Second Hand Uniform Items Wanted - Summer Dress
If you have any second hand uniform items that your child has grown out of which you are happy to donate to the school, please drop it off to the school office. We are particularly interested in any summer dresses, but any second hand uniform items would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
Because we are unable to run Breakfast Club at Level 2, we have Weetix to give away and Long life milk.
Please let the office know if you would like any.
