Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
I hope all is going well for you and your family.
Since our last lockdown, our staff are more confident using digital tools and have hit the ground running. I am so proud of what they are achieving with students during Alert level 4.
LAST CHANCE TO COLLECT HARD PACKS TODAY BY 5.00PM AT THE LATEST!!
There are hard copy packs at school outside Room 2 for you to pick up. If you haven't already collected the pack, please go into school and collect it. We will put these inside this evening at 5.00pm as some had journals in them and we don't want these to get damaged. These packs will complement what is happening online. Online teaching will be the main way learning is delivered through Alert Level 4.
You might like to get your child to look out for a few of the following when you are next out on your walk.

We will reschedule our Father's Day, Grandparents' Liturgy and our Social Justice Liturgy to a time when we are in Alert Level 1.
A big thank you for taking the lockdown seriously and doing what we have been asked – we’ve seen before that staying at home will break the chain of transmission and save lives. It is even more important that we all follow the health advice because the Delta variant is very contagious.
Breaking the rules risks the health of those close to you, the wider community and could result in the lock down period being extended.
Please remember that the school, playground and school grounds remain closed at Alert Level 4 (we have been granted an exemption for the distribution of our packs).
As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your tamariki during this time.

I am sure the students will enjoy watching our inspirational athletes who are participating in the Paralympics in Tokyo on the Duke channel.
Once again our staff and whanau have stepped up again to support learning. Just do what you can and what you do will be fantastic. We can't replicate what happens in the classroom but as long as we keep calm and keep it all posiitve, learning will flourish.
Alyssa Rm 6 and Andre Rm 5 learning from home. Well done Alyssa and Andre!
Send Cathy through photos that show learning in action so we can share in the newsletter.
I came across this beautiful prayer the other day. it spoke to me in many ways:
Dear Lord,
Help me to keep my heart open.
Help me to observe the beauty around me to appreciate all that I see.
Help me to notice the blessings in my life and to ignore those things that don't measure up to my expectations.
Guide me dear God through this day with humour, grace and no regrets.
Amen.
Please keep in your family prayers those who are sick particularly in our school community.
Stay safe – kia haumaru te noho.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Knowing that life can get tough under strict level four lockdown, Life Education Trust’s well-being -focused website is helping whanau connect and work together towards shared, healthy goals.
Parent Volunteers to Help with Soup Kitchen Collection
Kia ora e te whānau.
As part of our focus on Social Justice, we are supporting the Home of Compassion Soup Kitchen's annual appeal on Friday, 17th September. The Soup Kitchen was founded by Suzanne Aubert in Wellington in 1901 and has been supporting homelessness in Pōneke since that time. Amazing!
We are looking for some volunteer parents to supervise senior students as they collect donations for the Soup Kitchen near the Wellington High Court on Molesworth Street, between 9am and 2pm.
We need about 5 parents and would run a roster and collect with the children for around one hour. It would take just over an hour with a walk to and from school with the students. The more volunteers we have, the shorter our shifts might be.
Can you please let nicola@trustproperties.co.nz know if you are available to help support our senior students to support others in our community.
