Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Dedication of Aotearoa New Zealand to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven.
All the bishops will gather in Wellington on Sunday, 15th August – the Feast of the Assumption -- for a Mass to renew Bishop Pompallier’s 1838 dedication of Aotearoa New Zealand to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven. The Mass will be celebrated at St Mary of the Angels Church, which will be become a national shrine to Mary of the Assumption.
The bishops have commissioned an icon artwork of Mary by Christchurch artist Damien Walker which will be taken on a hikoi around the six dioceses in the three months before 15th August.
Attached is a statement about this project, and the three photos referred to in the statement. The statement and photos are also online at:

Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.
Lent is the period of preparation for Easter. During this time, we have an opportunity to draw nearer to God and be transformed by the Holy Spirit. Life is a journey, with mountains, valleys, and unexpected challenges. We all need time to be renewed and transformed. God is the ultimate source of truth and love. Through this season of Lent, let us reconcile with God and encounter the Spirit so that we can continue on the ‘path of love'. We can be the hands and feet of God, through our words and actions.
Last Thursday, some of our Whānau Māori group met to share how we as a school community can grow te reo Māori and tikanga Māori to protect and promote te reo Māori for future generations. This hui was a real privledge for our staff, who are looking to enrich the partnership with our Māori parents.

Thank you for all you do for our school. Have a well earned Easter break. Ngā Mihi O Te Aranga ki a koutou katoa. Blessings to you and your whanau. School will be open on Wednesday, 7th April.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
