Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
What an amazing week we had last week. Our visit to Pipitea Marae was incredibly special. As a school we are grateful and appreciative to all those who helped us. We ran out of time at the Marae to complete our activities so last Friday, our Senior students ran the activities back at school. Our staff were so proud of the thought and detail of the students who organised activities.

The Girls Futsal tournament was a great success as well. Jane, our Director of Religious Education arrived back at school and her first words were "Bern those children were a real credit to our school."
St Mary's Principal Andrew Murray and two ex-Sacred Heart students, Annie and Lynda visited our school today to speak to our Year 8 girls. Mr. Murray shared the opportunities that are available at the college as well as what it means to be a student at St Mary's College. Both Annie and Lynda spoke enthusiastically about their time so far at St Mary's College.
Please return raffle tickets and money for our Easter Raffle. Thank you to those families who have done this already. Our raffle closes tomorrow, Thursday, 25th March and will be drawn on Monday, 29th March with the winners announced in next week's newsletter.
"In Lent, may we be increasingly concerned with speaking words of comfort, strength, consolation and encouragement, and not words that demean, sadden, anger or show scorn. In order to give hope to others, it is sometimes enough simply to be kind." - Pope Francis
Have a wonderful week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Sacred Heart Shooting Stars won their final in Division 7 on penalties 3:1 after a close draw of 1:1. Second year in a row, thanks to Declan!
Last Sunday, quite a few students from Sacred Heart Cathedral School participated in the Weetbix Tryathlon. The school flag flying proudly as our students pushed themselves physically and mentally across three sporting disciplines, running, swimming and cycling. We are so proud of the grit and determination shown by students from our school.
