Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you so much for all the support you have given us throughout the term. What a wonderful term we have had with so many amazing learning experiences. Kotahitanga Day this week was the icing on the cake.
Special thanks to our staff team who have put so much thought into their planning to excite and motivate the children.
Kotahitanga Day - What a fabulous day we had on Monday to celebrate the culture that we identify with and engagement with various aspects of the curriculum.

Next term, our focus will be on all our students reading and participating in our Readathon. Reading is a wonderful pass time. We want to foster a culture of reading while laying a foundation for success and instilling a lifelong habit. Next term, each child will bring home a Readathon booklet and we will have an online portal where families can make donations to the Readathon. Congratulations to our winners for making such wonderful Readathon posters:
- Winner: Ellie (Room 7)
- Runners Up: Scarlett (Room 10), Jiezl (Room 7), Violet (Room 6) and Khoi (Room2).

Our students will be dressed in their winter uniforms for the next term. In our area dedicated to storing uniforms, we have an abundance of second-hand ones. If you would like to take a look, you are welcome to visit the school office. We also have ties that you can purchase from school for $20.00.
By the time you read this, I will be in the air heading to Banff in Canada for the U Lead Conference. I am very grateful for all the support I have received from our Board and staff so I can attend this one-in-a-lifetime event. I look forward to sharing my learning with our school community.
Have a wonderful break over the holidays and I look forward to seeing you all next term.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

What Learning Looks Like at Sacred Heart Cathedral School
We are a school that understands that teaching and learning is a balance between excellent instruction and opportunities to practice learning inside and outside of the classroom.
Our staff recognize that students have different learning styles, abilities, and interests. They tailor their teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of their students, providing opportunities for both challenge and support.

Assembly - we love sharing what we have been learning at assembly.

Seniors Technology - we are very fortunate that our Year 7 and 8 students attend Technology at Karori West Normal School. Our students learn practical skills so that they can be innovative, reflective and critical thinkers.
