Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
We have had such amazing learning happening throughout the school.
Here is another video from our Performance Group at last week's cultural festival.
Thank you for all your support with our Christmas raffle. Please return all butts to the office.
It is such a busy time of year - try to find a little bit of time for yourself.
It's hard to believe that this Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent and also the beginning of the new liturgical year, when we transition into a new liturgical cycle.
Lord, this Advent, help us slow down, listen to your voice, and focus on what's really important. We place our hope in you as we prepare our hearts to celebrate your birth on Christmas. Amen.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Please see below the email I sent to families last Friday, 22nd November.
I just wanted to touch base with you all to let you know of a wee tweak to our End of Year Celebration.
Yesterday, Archbishop Paul let us know that he will be officiating our End of Year Mass assisted by Father Patrick. The actual Mass is going to be filmed and shown on Shine TV on Christmas Day (please note there will be no filming on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception).
It is a very special Mass for our Year 8 students so the format will be slightly different to previous years. The school will sing a waiata as the Year 8 students enter the Cathedral.
Our Presiding Member Suzanne Adair will welcome us and instruct us on safety in the Cathedral. Then, the actual Mass will start and filming will begin focusing on the service at the altar. Even though it is Advent our tamariki will be singing Christmas Carols. Once Mass has finished , filming will stop. Then we will continue on with farewelling our Year 8 students.
We are planning on this event being no longer than one hour and twenty minutes as there will be the normal lunchtime Mass in the Cathedral.

Wellbeing Day On Wednesday (4th December)
On Wednesday, 4th December, the school will walk up to Anderson Park for a morning of fun games within our house groups. The students can wear clothes the colour of their house. They will need lunch and a drink (there will be no Subway orders that day) and a sunhat and jacket. If you are able to help walk up there at 9:30 AM and back at 1:15 PM please let your child's teacher know.
NO SUBWAY ORDERS NEXT WEDNESDAY (4TH DECEMBER)
Please note that there will be no subway orders next week as the whole school will be at Anderson Park from 9:30 AM to 1:15 PM. The children will all need to bring their own morning tea, lunch and drink bottle of water. Thank you.
Junior Syndicate Trip On Tuesday (3rd December)
This is just a reminder that after swimming on Tuesday, 3rd December, the Junior Syndicate will go to Shorland Park in Island Bay for the rest of the day. We will arrive there at approximately 10:50 AM. This day will be a NON-UNIFORM DAY for the junior syndicate students. They need a sunhat, jacket and sunblock, as well as lunch and a drink. If you have not filled in the Google form please do so as soon as possible.

On a cold windy Friday afternoon, The Strikers had their first win of the season 2-0. Our player of the day was Jackson (Room 6) for his first goal of the season as well as some great goal keeping.
