Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Students Walking To The Train And Bus
Last week, I walked students to the station. I was quite alarmed at the impulsive behaviour that I observed. Jaywalking across Molesworth Street/Hill Street and running across the road even though the Kate Shepherd icon was still red. Accidents waiting to happen. We must mitigate as much risk as we can. The expectation is that the children walk right down to the bottom of Molesworth Street and cross at the traffic lights when the green Kate Shepherd alerts them to cross. This is the safest way.
If your child is walking to and from the station, please speak with them about being a safe pedestrian and always having to be patient and not impulsive.
87% of students were in class from 27th May to 30th May.
Please ensure that your child is at school every day unless they are sick or at a medical appointment.
High attendance and high academic achievement go hand in hand.
To put it simply, if your child is not at school, they cannot learn what the rest of the class are learning.
Please reach out to me if you have any issues at all around attendance.
Sacred Heart Feast Day on Friday (7th June)
We invited you to join us for a liturgy in celebration of the Sacred Heart Feast Day at St Mary's College Hall at 10:00am on Friday, 7th June. Parking will be limited at the school playgound. Please note that there is NO parking at St Mary's College grounds.
Junior Walking Tour on Tuesday (11th June)
To enable us to plan ahead and to see if we have the legal ratio for taking students to the waterfront, we need all Junior Syndicate parents to fill in the Google form by Tuesday, June 4th. The form also gives your permission to allow your child to attend. Many thanks for your help with this.
Hangi Orders - Matariki Event on Monday (24th June)
On Monday, 24th June, we are holding a Matariki event with St Mary's College at 5:30pm. As part of this celebration, St Mary's College is organising a hangi for dinner. The cost is $17 per person, and only a limited number are available. If you would like to order one, please fill out the Google form by 10th June (or whenever they sell out). There will also be soup available at no cost at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
Year 7 Vision Screening on Thursday (27th June) at 9:00AM
Health New Zealand, Te Whatu Ora will provide a vision screening programme for all Year 7 students at Sacred Heart Cathedral School on Thursday (27th June) at 9:00AM.

BASKETBALL:
Sacred Heart Dunkin' Donuts (Year 7/8 Div 6) lost to St Mark's Rua, 0-17. Despite the lost, they had a really good teamwork. Player of the day was Anaya (Room 9).
Sacred Heart Krispy Kremes (Year 7/8 Div 2) vs St Anne's Mavericks won 20-19. Another epic performance by Krispy Kremes resulting to a "come from behind" win. Down 3-9 in the early part of the second half, the team gave it their all showing their 'never give up' attitude to eventually crawl back and win the game 20-19. Clutch!!! Congratulations to Pierre (Room 10), the player of the day for his superb play on both offence and defence and making a 'monster block' during the game. Well done!
