Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
The first day of Summer arrives on Friday plus our countdown for Christmas begins.
On Monday Sue, Hannah and I went on a bus tour organised by our Kahui Ako looking at Pa sites around our city. The learning for us all was incredible and an absolute privilege to hear the narratives from the past.

The Junior School had a great picnic despite the weather over at Shorland Park. Special thanks to all the whānau who helped Sue, Sarah and Leanne. It was very much appreciated.
Please help yourself to any second-hand school uniform. There is so much available and it is all in good condition.
Loving God, we pray for our Church, that she continues to be a voice for your glorious creation, encouraging the world to take urgent action to protect and restore our common home. We pray to the Lord.
Thank you for the special way you all support our school. Last week, we raised $621.00 for the City Mission Koha. Each class will put together a range of hampers. It is wonderful to be able to help families in our area.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Thanks to all the wonderful helpers who made the day so special for the Junior Syndicate yesterday. The weather was definitely in our favour and we had a great day at Kilbirnie Pool and Shorland Park. The students enjoyed every moment!

INTERZONE ATHLETICS RESULTS:
Congratulations to our amazing athletes who competed in the Wellington Interzone Athletics event on Tuesday, 21 November. The weather was less than ideal but everyone still did their best and were great sports. There must have been over 35 schools represented at the event from Tawa to Seatoun, and our tamariki did our kura proud, as always. There were some really close results for a number of our athletes, especially in the sprints and shotput. Everyone held their heads high, no matter the outcome. We are so proud of you all.
Congratulations to the seven people who qualified for the upcoming Wellington Regional Athletics event:
Tala (Room 6) for 3rd place in quoits.
Uriah (Room 6) for 3rd place in short sprint and long sprint.
Reid (Room 7) for 2nd place short sprint and long sprint.
Janiva (Room 7) for 3rd place in long jump and short sprint, and 2nd in long sprint.
Pierre (Room 8) for 2nd in shotput and long jump, and 3rd in short sprint and long sprint.
Veronica (Room 8) for 2nd in short sprint.
Tian (Room 9) for 2nd in discus with his unfavoured hand!
We love your mahi!

SUMMER SOCCER:
Sacred Heart Junior Strikers versus the Firebirds – final score 0-7.
A tough final score but not indicative of how well our team actually played on the day, and in highly uncertain windy, squally weather. Player of the day was Fintan (Room 3) for getting back out on the field post-injury.
A reminder that on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year, we will be making a donation to the Parish Foodbank. If you would like to donate any non-perishable food items, please drop it off at the office. Thank you very much.
