Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
It is hard to believe that we are in December.
You are most welcome to join us tomorrow for morning tea. I want to thank you all for the incredible way you support us in delivering such a rich curriculum for our tamariki. Thank you for all the trips, activities, and supporting events you attend. Thank you for all your support when we fundraise and for attending our in-school events, including liturgical celebrations. Special mention to all those parents who help us coach and manage sports teams.
Welcome to Tracy, who is in Room 5 for Clare, who has her brother's wedding in Perth. Tracy will be the new assistant rector at St Patrick's College from the start of 2025. Room 5 is a delightful class, and I know Tracy will enjoy her time there.
Wellbeing - what an incredible job the staff team did up at Anderson Park. Special thanks to all families who supported us at the park. The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves with all the co operative games. It was so hot and windless so we did bring the children back a little bit earlier. The children will all sleep well tonight.

I love watching all students participate in Kapa Haka as they stand with pride and enjoy a sense of belonging, community, affirmation, and identity. Kapa Haka is a strenuous workout and is great for growing wellness within and between people. I see Kapa Haka as a gift that strengthens who we are and is a critical competency in te reo Māori and a key component of ritual here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. Next year, we want our students to understand the significance of the waiata that we sing.

Special thanks to our teaching team who have written a summary of learning for 2024. Reports will come home this Friday.
Looking forward to seeing you at our Parish school Mass this Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

A BIG THANK YOU to the following businesses who have sponsored our school through SchoolAppsNZ:
Hosting International Students
St Pats (Wellington) is reaching out to families who are keen to host international students in 2025. We have students coming for the whole year (from China), and are keen to find them a good home. We are also expecting various groups (staying from 9 days to a whole term from March onwards).
Starting in 2025 St. Patrick's College is increasing the homestay fee to $360 /week, $75 for 14 nights or fewer (and $120 if hosting 2 students; this only applies for short stays).
