Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome back to term 3 of 2024.
I hope you are well-rested and ready for another exciting term.
A very special warm welcome to Christine Geraghty who is teaching in Room 9 until the end of the year. Anna resigned at the end of term 2 and we are so grateful to Christine who is loving being with the gorgeous tamariki in Room 9 and I think from my observations that the feeling is mutual.
Welcome also to Jordyn who is in Room 7 and is a teacher trainee from Te Rito Maioha.
Welcome Shirley, Valentino, Elliott of Room 1 and Mirabel of Room 6 to our school community. You and your whānau are going to love being part of our very special school.
We are getting a renovation done by the Archdiocese of Wellington at the moment. Phase 1 has involved relocating Room 1 to the library. Thank you to Leanne and Ann for all your flexibility with this and to the Room 1 whānau. Your children have been super adaptive. Robyn, our librarian has been providing a mobile service to classes (thanks Robyn) and Sarah has relocated National Library books into shared spaces.
I am grateful to our team for putting on their thinking caps and making sure our tamariki are being exposed to good-quality literature while our library is temporarily closed.
We have lots of exciting learning planned for this term. Life Education is here at the moment and we are very grateful to Bishop Paul and Father Patrick for allowing us to park the caravan down at their residence. Life Education has been a part of the New Zealand Landscape for over 35 years supporting our young people with looking after themselves and focusing on self-care.
Congratulations to Enrico who represented our school in the zone cross country in the last week of term. Well done Enrico (Room 8) for reaching such a tough part of the competition. We are very proud of your efforts.
Unless your child is feeling poorly - let's make daily attendance at school a priority ensuring learning flourishes.
Thank you for all your donations for our Readathon - we have purchased all the Chromebooks and thanks to Clare Hewson who has labeled and dispatched into classrooms. We are so lucky and very grateful to you all.
Have a great week. If you have any concerns about your child's progress please contact us.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

St Mary's College Business Cooking Experience
We are a year 13 Young Enterprise business group from St Mary's (the college next door). As part of our business studies, we have made an educational cooking kit for kids aged 7-13 to create their own healthy bliss balls by following online animated instructions. The animations teach the kids how to chop, mix, and roll the balls.
