Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
I hope you have had a wonderful long weekend.
Our staff had an excellent session on Friday learning about the changes to the curriculum delivery from 2025.
This week, we celebrate Tokelau Language Week.
The 2024 theme for Tokelau Language Week is ‘Tokelau, tāofi mau tau aganuku, ko tō pale tēnā - Tokelau, holdfast to your culture, that is your crown.’
To those whānau who are of Tokelaun descent, we hope you have a wonderful week celebrating your culture.
Special welcome to Pavel who started in Room 1 yesterday. You are going to have a wonderful time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School and will make lifelong friends.
Congratulations to all of our students who represented our school at the EPro8 event last Thursday night. You were all pretty spectacular the way you all worked together to solve problems and work out what you needed to do to earn points. Congratulations to Hazel, George, Isabella and Amelia of Room 10 who are all through to the next round.

Yesterday, I went with the Juniors swimming - what a slick operation Sue, Sarah, Leanne and Frances run. Thank you to all our parent helpers who assist us we are very grateful.
Thank you for everything you do for our school. It is very much appreciated.
Have a wonderful week.
Arohanui,

We had an amazing time drumming with Johnny last Thursday.
The concentration and rhythm shown by our students and staff was incredible.

Despite the weather, Central Zone Athletics Day was a fantastic success, bringing together students from years 4 - 8 for a day filled with spirited competition and teamwork. Held on Tuesday, 29th October at Newtown Athletics Stadium, the event included a variety of activities, including sprints, relays, and field events. The atmosphere was fantastic, with cheers from classmates and parents creating a vibrant backdrop to the day's events. A special thank you to the parents and volunteers who made this memorable day possible. A special congratulations to all the students who participated on the day and did their best. Results of students who have been selected to proceed to the InterZone athletics will be published in next week's school newsletter. We look forward to next year’s Athletics Day.
